Why can't they understand the difference between a Lithium CRxxyy non-rechargeable battery and a Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. The first is known to be stable and not restricted for carriage. The second can be risk under some circumstances. Apple AirTags use the no-risk non-rechargeable type. Common sense should prevail.ANZ have now weighed in (sheep like) and are advising they are not to be used as they are lithium batteries.
So how are you going to get it back ???I've got an AirTag that must have fallen out of a zipped pocket into a baggage container and travelled the world for a few weeks before sitting on the tarmac in Manila for another week. Then appeared in someones house near to Manila airport.
I’m passing through Manila airport next monthSo how are you going to get it back ???
I have wondered about dropping in on them next time I'm in Manila. So how are you going to get it back ???

I suspect airlines perceive that PAX are using airtags as a way to avoid airline application of the mushroom principle and are endeavouring to prevent that.So according to this article Air NZ names Apple baggage trackers as prohibited items Lufthansa was able to do an immediate risk assessment, whereas Air NZ will do it in early 2023? Case of things happening slowly across the ditch?

Imagine the reaction.I've got an AirTag that must have fallen out of a zipped pocket into a baggage container and travelled the world for a few weeks before sitting on the tarmac in Manila for another week. Maybe Apple could add an option where instead of playing a tone, it plays a message.Have you tried playing the sound randomly? Imagine the reaction.
You could time it to give morse code instructons.

“I know what you did last summer”….Maybe Apple could add an option where instead of playing a tone, it plays a message.

Option 2: This is your mother. Why haven't you called me?
Option 3: Help! I'm trapped in this suitcase!!
