Why can't they understand the difference between a Lithium CRxxyy non-rechargeable battery and a Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. The first is known to be stable and not restricted for carriage. The second can be risk under some circumstances. Apple AirTags use the no-risk non-rechargeable type. Common sense should prevail.

I put mine in a zip-lock bag inside my bag to minimise the chances of the tiny little thingy going astray.

I suspect airlines perceive that PAX are using airtags as a way to avoid airline application of the mushroom principle and are endeavouring to prevent that.

We know common sense isn't .......... I can only guess the ANZ position reflects their management working culture.

Any first-mover strategy requires a position that won't be publicly walked back or could be interpreted as brand dilution (note the failed BOM proposed change of name strategy - when have Australians ever reversed an abbreviation?)

Senior Managers in Air New Zealand should have done their simple homework and seriously challenged the fool who proposed this.

I've got each of my tags in a sleeve/holder like this one. Then I just hook the keyring part onto an internal zip or something like that.
