Yes.

Yes, no luck. It seems the owner needs to be within a certain distance of the AirTag to be able to play the sound.

Ah, that kinda makes sense that it only works when you’re scratching your head looking around the house for the AirTag - follow the sound!

So could you knock on the door and ask for it back? Is it that accurate?

Our cat ran away a few weeks ago. We were very distressed. After 24 hours and very hot day we found him quite some distance away. We are thinking of a collar with an AirTag.

It could be if you press “Play sound” and the person answering the door is beeping!

I’ve hopped on a plane to track it down. Only joking, here for a work trip. Oh so close, but still so far.

My cat, and collar tag holder just from Amazon or Ebay. But when you "play tone" it's very quiet (worse when battery is old)

Slight off topic, can I ask if anyone has used an airtag to track their children's car?

I have told my kids (just got their L plates) that I would like to do this are they are OK with it.

Any pros & cons?

Leaving aside the privacy/trust/whatever discussion, might be better to just track their phone? More likely to be actually with/on them, and much more useful in whatever emergency situation it is being used for?

(Pretty sure you can do this on iPhones, although haven't had one for a long time.)
