Journos I believe were given 'hands on' time, but that's all. There was an embargo on reporting of it, but the units were just for evaluation, not for them to keep.

You mean you work in a store that has received their stock?

No I own a store.

More wondering if the couriers have tried to get ahead or the distribution warehouses have accidentally sent out early.

Last year there was a small qty out in the market place early.

Apple say our phones are being delivered today. We received this delivery advice last night.

I have customers that will not allow I phones in there fleet.

The staff need a phone not a toy.

Hahah spoken like a true old timer!! ;) Sounds like one of my banking clients who resisted putting in an app till the last minute (to their own massive loss)

Yep he is.

This client struggles with the fact that he can not pay everyone with a cheque still. Mind you when I do work for him he pays with a cheque. But some people he now pays via internet banking.

Waiting for the email from the mail room saying I can come collect it:

Mine was shipped overnight from SYD to PER and is now on a delivery truck on its way to me.

Way to go Telstra....

Wonder why Woz chose Chermside????
Why not :) My other half was in the queue (whilst I was in the Queue down here in MEL) and sent me a pic of the man himself:

For some strange reason, he wasn't talking on an iPhone either ;)

I guess he travels enough so why not have an 'Asia' iPhone. I know for a fact he loves to be a part of the 'buzz' even though he most likely gets everything free still. Have you see the contents of his backpack? The Amazing Contents of Steve Wozniak's Travel Backpack it's scary!

On a side note, Telstra LTE in MEL CBD is *blistering*:

Here's here for a QUT Business Leaders' forum.

[h=2]QUT Business Leaders' Forum with Steve Wozniak "The Woz"[/h]Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, Inc. is one of the greatest entrepreneurs and engineers of our time. His partnership with Steve Jobs, in building the first personal computer, has generated far reaching economic and social impact through world changing vision and life changing technologies. The great insights for the two partners, in those early Apple days, were that computers should be simple, pleasurable to use, have a more human interface and must change the lives of people.
Steve Wozniak has been described as a “passionate, irreverent rebel”. In relating the Apple experience, he will “connect the dots” on how his close friendship and very special partnership with Steve Jobs in the founding of Apple led to a revolution with computers in every home. Steve will share his personal journey; his thoughts on the future of innovation and creativity and will also speak on how to build an innovative team.
Steve Wozniak was inducted into the United States Inventors Hall of Fame in 2000 and has received numerous awards including a global award for outstanding contribution to humanity through IT.
Kerry O'Brien, as one of Australia's leading journalists, will once again act as moderator for this important QUT Business Leaders' Forum.
Please join us for this inspirational event with one of the world's greatest innovators, Steve Wozniak.

You got through okay?

A colleague was trying to get his SIM changed over on the phone. While he was trying I walked down to the nearest Telstra shop and had my SIM replaced. I got back to my desk, and he was still trying to get through :)

I'm still on the phone now…… 41 minutes and counting

The entire mobile phone industry was swamped with enquires.

So was the underground!

Handled one today - my threshold for how much I am willing to pay to break my Vodafone contract increased - a lot...

I am not 100% on the screen size (I think the 4S is perfect for what I use it) but the thinness/thickness and lack of mass are what I have been waiting for. It is pretty much the size of my ipod touch first gen - with everything else to boot.

Picked up mine at lunch time yesterday. From the Apple store in Perth city, renewed a contract with Telstra. Took bout 1.5hrs (longish lunch break), which was not too awful for opening day IMO.

Very happy with it..... much more impressed with it that I thought i'd be from the photos and reviews and specs.

Also happy that I work and live in a LTE zone (although use wifi at home)

The sim is a different size to my 4 and the phone charger has changed at the phone plug in.

Yes, the sim is a nano, the new "standard" that only Apple are using (so far, if I'm not mistaken). The new connector is called Lightning and I'm not sure what it's particular benefits are apart from being reversible (no right way up or down) and smaller. My number porting has taken 8 hours so far so I think there has been a problem.

Big queues at my local Apple store today for purchasing, still waiting for mine to be sent so went into the store and had a play.
Love the new "Do Not Disturb" function, will come in very handy when travelling. I'm one of those paranoid travellers who answers their phone in the middle of the night fearing that their entire family has been wiped out in a tsunami only to find themselves speaking incoherently to a Netball mum advising of extra practice next Tuesday
I'm getting a 64G White/Silver and I'm pretty impressed by the weight and size.
