My name is Jourdan and I am a QP, NB, E (unless I can get my hands on a cheap J!) flying member.

Economy is termed Y

I will be at the BNE QP 9/4 from 12:00 - 13:00 and I can guest anyone who is interested in joining (drinking yourself silly?) for a chat! Do any F or J flyers actually voluntarily use the QP?

Might come up and join you, but the bar doesn’t open until after that time anyway, though in the J lounge…

I will also be at CBR QP on 13/4 13:00 - 15:00 if any member is interested in a second round.

The bar will be open then… if you need a lift back from the train station on that day, send a text.

Y is full economy, but we tend to use it also to refer to the whole class in general. (See also "WHY"). Just as J can refer to Business class in general, even though you sit there with any of the fare bases C, D, I, J or U.

FWIW, Red e-Deal covers fare bases O, N, Q, E and X (Any Seat Award).

And just when you get used to the jargon - using Y or whY for economy class, and J for business -someone from the land of star alliance starts dropping "C" class into the conversation (which is also used as shorthand for business class ) :shock:. Admittedly that usually doesn't happen on Australian FF, just on Flyertalk.

Well, yes that does tend to happen a lot. There is a bunch of people out there (particularly non-ow people) who will use C for general Business class talk; I started with knowing J, so there.

To be a wee bit more confusing, the xONEx products use L, D and A for Economy, Business and First (i.e. LONEx = Economy oneworld Explorer ticket for x continents), as these are the official fare classes that are used on each sector of such tickets. The same class codes are also used for other products, e.g. Global Explorer, Circle Pacific etc.

I don't know what the "standard" is for Premium Economy. I use Y+, but I've seen others use W, PY, P and others; let alone distinguishing between cash and award.

I'm hoping to get a friend of mine guested at at the QP or F lounge in MEL and maybe HKG (sunday 18th). I think the flight is QF29 (have to double check
