Nope. It will be exactly the same as if you had booked on QF

LOL Fell off my seat when I saw this come up.. thought it was an error so refreshed and rebooked and looks like I will be flying Air Jamaica Express between Melbourne and Launceston. (And yes I have the right countries - flight numbers and times match Jetstars schedule)

The airline code JQ is actually a controlled duplication - it is the code for both JetStar and Air Jamaica, and there are several of them floating around. They normally only exist where the operations of the two carriers are so far apart that there is no danger of them coming into contact and thus causing confusion.

One thinks that this will have to change with JetStar now going international in a big way.

As for QF and AA shutting down this option, I can't see it happening. As long as AA wants to offer the ability to purchase tickets on their partners via their website, the facility will be there. And I can't see QF telling AA not to sell seats on QF flights.

Not that I know of. If you want to add a QF FF number, then phoning QF is prob the easiest way to get the reference and add the FF number; either AA or QF can let u know the Amadeus reference. Unfortunately QF, unlike AA, does not provide a faciltity to retrieve bookings on the site without a ref

So this explains why QANTAS Singapore may offer lower prices for fares out of Singapore.

In the past four months, I have purchased two World Discovery fares (for sale (only?) out of London) originating in London.

In each case the fare quoted by QANTAS US was about $100 less than that quoted by QANTAS UK. Because of an overland sector, AA.com would not price the identical itinerary, but it was close (and still less than QANTAS UK) even including that sector as a flight.

I am still trying to understand why QANTAS USA charge lower fares than QANTAS UK for flights.

Is this to compete with AA.com?

or is there some common factor (fuel surcharge calculations, tax collection differences) that lowers pricing based in the US compared to that in the UK?

I just booked a flight from BNE to AKL on the Qantas website.
Just out of interest, I then had a look to see how much it was on AA.com

Is this normally the case? If so, I will certainly check AA.com in the future - any problems getting points credited to QFF?

I generally book ALL QF flights on the AA website, and never have had a problem. Of course I don't have an accent, being American! (HAHA). I generally always present my Illinois driver's licence as ID to the agent as well. So they assume what they think is the obvious.

Even better, quite often QF shows flights as FULL when AA still has their allocation!

I suspect it is to do with the requirement for inclusive pricing - any fuel surcharges or non govt taxes must be included in the price. This may well change as the us authorities are considering removing the requirement for inclusive pricing (a backwards step for consumers IMO).

When I phoned QF to do this they said it had to be done through AA as the flight was booked through them. So I called AA in Sydney and they added my QFF number on the spot and the trip then appeared on the QF website under 'my bookings' within minutes.

I have never had such a response from QF in regards to adding a QF FF number. hey ho

Yes, well it all went very smoothly - thanks to the advice given here - and was noticably cheaper even allowing for there being no GST (still waiting for it to appear on my CC statement to get the exact final cost).

And then Qantas cancelled the service effective 3 days before my (AA booked) flight..... Still waiting to be notified; at this stage the status still shows 'confirmed'.
