Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

As others have reported the door to the F cupboard is wide open.

It’s almost as though they’re already treating it as a hybrid lounge.

As for the reno: “We’ve heard that it’s starting in December, but we’ve heard that the last two years also.”

My flight has been cancelled. ☹️

I’ll check again tomorrow. 🤣

Also on QF 4 this morning as reported earlier the door is broken a d doesn't look like being repaired. Doesn't look like Reno's will start this year according to staff.

Reno? Thought of casinos here for a moment… 😅

But in earnest- don’t consider me surprised. I will seriously be surprised when it finally happens. How long has this shameful saga been going on now- was it not well before Covid when the “upcoming” renovation was spruiked first? I’m actually puzzled by this not happening in time for this ultra long flights to JFK- surely that must have been the original plan?

An afternoon renovation query...
"I believe they are due to commence the end of September"
The look on the agents face was not convincing at all.

Indeed.. which to arrive first? AKL reno or project sunrise aircraft and service to bypass it?
Good point! Maybe they are secretly just waiting for their chance to pull off the renovation entirely as it’s “not really needed anymore”

Wel no, clearly it is. QF obviously aren't giving up in AKL.

My point was more that originally the lounge reno was promised for the start of the JFK flights, alas..

Passed through the F broom cupboard last week on QF4. Having received an escort from two F Hosts, I was first into the lounge and took the opportunity to take a shower to "freshen" up.

The whole facility deserves to be condemned. I don't care if there are renovation plans afoot, no shower facility should be in this state...🤮🤮🤮

Oh my gosh… I had always wondered what goes on behind that door, especially while it was was “Closed for renovations” over many many months and then suddenly opened up again.

Now we all know- it’s the thing my worst nightmares are made of! And I’m a bit of a hygiene freak so dirty grimy bathrooms and kitchens do indeed feature way too often in my dreams 😩
