Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

No more hokey pokey? I'd always get that flavour in New Zealand.
I remember there was hokey pokey (and other flavours) during my visit last year which was yum but there was only cookies and cream flavour during my recent visit earlier this month.

An afternoon renovation query...
"I believe they are due to commence the end of September"
The look on the agents face was not convincing at all.
Just asked and told with the same look 🤭 When they do start, cupboard section will be closed and done first and all pax will be in the biz section during this time🤣
Interesting🤔

Passed through the F broom cupboard last week on QF4. Having received an escort from two F Hosts, I was first into the lounge and took the opportunity to take a shower to "freshen" up.

The whole facility deserves to be condemned. I don't care if there are renovation plans afoot, no shower facility should be in this state...🤮🤮🤮
There are a few “important” looking people checking and taking photos of the facilities atm😱

OT Alert / rather than start a new thread for something so small, I thought the AKL lounge regulars on here might be able to recommend a good reliable AKL airport transfer service that isn’t $$$$?

I have a tonne of NZ travel coming up for a new client, and lots of late night arrivals included into AkL so would prefer a meet and greet driver service - premium, but doesn’t have to be luxury. Thanks anyone who has any ideas. AKL Ubers and cabs are awful.

AKL Ubers and cabs are awful.
Last year I used to fly across the Tasman weekly, back when the Ubers were in the old pickup spot I’d order when getting to the green line in baggage claim and never had to wait more then a minute. The new pickup area is so much further and it’s a proper mess.

Getting off topic but could not agree more, such a hellish nightmare this off area for pick ups!

Some “very smart” Kiwis must have done a tax-payer funded excursion to LAX-it and have thought “Eeeeh, we ceeen do thiiis beeeter!” (Apologies for my bad attempt at a Kiwi accent which I actually adore)

I'm booked to check this lounge out for maybe the last time this weekend ...

Wasn't a bad attempt - replace eee & iii with eie ... :p

Reno? Thought of casinos here for a moment… 😅

But in earnest- don’t consider me surprised. I will seriously be surprised when it finally happens. How long has this shameful saga been going on now- was it not well before Covid when the “upcoming” renovation was spruiked first? I’m actually puzzled by this not happening in time for this ultra long flights to JFK- surely that must have been the original plan?

The reno was announced years before the JFK flight routing via AKL being announced.
