Great list. Yes, many of my “go to” have or going down the virtual drain. I see that they’re still updating CMT, I must go check if it’s still cough. I’m going to wait until TripCase stops working before deleting the app!
WhereToCredit does not like QF post “Simpler & Fairer” (TM). So completely useless working out what a QFF might earn. Which does mean manually checking the QF earn tables if flying whY. The calculator is generally ok for higher fare classes.
eSIMs - I’m finding no one size fits all and it pays to check coverage, duration, data allowance and price. Flexiroam (and others) have the convenience of working of the one installed eSIM. Just add one or more Country, Regional or Global plan and it works out the best one to use. Unfortunately, outside of the regular sales, Flexi is pretty expensive (even after discount). At least all new phones support around 8 or more concurrent eSIMs - I have six at the moment (plus a local UK sim installed and amaysim on eSIM!).
Meanwhile, some others not already mentioned.
Seat Alerts (by ExpertFlyer) had a near death experience being pulled from the app stores and then stopped working properly but has since reappeared. For now, it’s still a handy phone app to check seat maps for free/blocked seats and set alerts (the Free EF account allows for 4x searches per day).
Rome2rio is great for exploring unfamiliar territory. Literally how do I get from A to B. It’s not infallible but a good starting point.
Moovit - local transport app with routes, planning tools and usually real-time info. If I’m spending time in a city, I usually look for the local travel app (some live on my phone - Tube map, London Buses), but Moovit covers many cities around the world. Handy if you forget to get the official app. Yes, Google maps does a lot of this also - unless you’re in China…
Mapway - consolidated a bunch of seperate city metro apps into one app. I just noticed that it includes Beijing and Shanghai - which should come in handy for an upcoming trip!
Maps.me - Apple and Google maps (both now allow offline maps) do most of the heavy lifting getting around, walking, driving and public transport but Maps.me is good for walking (and walking trails).
Atlas Obscura - quirky points of interest nearby.
