All transit travellers must take a COVID-19 test within 2 days before departure for Singapore (i.e. if the pre-departure test is taken on 1 Nov 2021, it will be valid for departures up to 3 Nov 2021, 2359 hours). Travellers without a valid negative COVID-19 test will not be allowed to board their connecting flight out of Singapore.

Ill be flying from SYD to FRA so will have my neg pre-departure covid test from SYD airport with me, that should be ok dont you think

As long as it's within 2 days before departure for Singapore

And that is calendar days too, not 48 hrs. For example, if departing on Monday, testing conducted any time on Saturday or Sunday (or prior to checkin on Monday itself) is acceptable, regardless of whether the flight departs at 00:05 or 23:55.

Is that a change? I swore it was 48 hours but could be mistaken. That is great to know though, thank you.

It used to be 72 hours I think but it was changed to 2 days and then there was at one point clarification provided as to what two days meant.

It is best summarised by this statement on the website detailing requirements for transit pax:

Illustration of acceptable 2-day timeline: A traveller departing for Singapore on 3 December 2021 should take a pre-departure COVID-19 test no earlier than 1 December 2021.

Interesting that it can be a supervised RAT test! "
  1. Antigen Rapid Test that is administered by a trained professional, i.e. self-swabs are disallowed.
Has anyone done this? I guess you stand in front of a pathologist and then get your certificate?

I did it with Histopath at MEL predeparture. Unfortunately the savings vs PCR are not significant ($59 vs $79) but the process at the front end is the same as PCR - someone swabs you and the swabs are taken out back for testing. Results were messaged to me within 20mins. Obviously using RAT kit rather than PCR. Difficult to find others offering this service.

OK, I see Histopath are in the Brisbane International Terminal offering pre-departure tests - bookings essential.

I guess I’m in a quandary then? Unless things change, my RTW Lufthansa ticket has me stuck in the Changi terminal for 31 hours. We always stay a day or so in Singapore and love a chance to break up the flight to London (via FRA) by staying in the city. So when our flights were 31 hours apart, we were happy to reserve a City hotel. Now transitions (48 hour conditions apply), mean we can’t leave the airport. We have reserved the Aerotel at the cost of over $500Aud, but to be honest who wants to spend that long in a terminal? Just seeing if we can change the flights to a day earlier and try a quicker connection, but it was a deal for business RTW, so not sure we can.

Great news. Be good if they were to ditch the test for transit passengers...Ah well can't win it all. Definitely going to look for a long weekend in Singapore sometime mid year.

Yep, saw it in the Straits Times this morning but you all beat me to it! Still doesn't help me transit
Qantas/AirAsia to BKK on April Fool's Day... I'll patiently wait!

Just came here to post the good news on many VTL requirements being lifted or relaxed... of course I've been beaten to that! :) Now, I'll just wait for outdoor mask wearing to go, and then it might be time to think about SG as a leisure destination again!

Cheers,
Matt.
