Article: What It’s Like Flying to Singapore in 2022

I must say, the announcement that they are going to make a big announcement in the future has New Zealand vibes.
And all these announcements about the announcement that they are going to make a big announcement is giving me anxiety about my upcoming trip...

Have they announced anything today yet?
It's at 11am Singapore time.

11am Singapore time = 11am Perth Time = 1pm Brisbane Time = 2pm Sydney/Melbourne time.

I expect the announcement to be broadcast live on Channel News Asia:

I would temper expectations. There will be lots of thank you for staying strong etc, and coming together to see the country through the pandemic. And a pathway out, but I suspect it will be a continued phased retreat, not a full opening up. I expect VTL to go, they've already alluded to that, which would be nice to open up more destinations.

Wow it looks like a mixture of what everyone was asking for except for myself.

- Group size doubles to 10
- Masks optional outside
- 75% in offices
- VTL scrapped - replaced by unrestricted entry for vaccinated

All vaccinated travellers will be allowed in.
No short term visitors need to apply for vaccination pass nor an on arrival test but need a pre departure test in the 2 days before departure.
VTL flights gone.

Unfortunately no good for most of you but (and this had already been quietly introduced) residents can do video supervised predeparture ARTs when returning to Singapore. No more lining up at Histopath (in Australia) or trying to find somewhere to do a supervised ART in other countries. Yay!

Thinking now of using Spontaneous Escape to South Africa, great value in J.

Is the Trace Together app still mandatory?
It’s predominant use these days is to verify vaccination status. Seems much more relaxed these days than it used to be (need it for restaurants and entering shopping centres, but not for individual stores within shopping centres). We used to have to use it entering our office building, now only required for entering the office.

Thanks. Do you know if there's a way for an Australian to link my status to the app? Heading there in a few weeks.

Travelling next month. Have downloaded the app and it says to activate once I clear immigration. Heard it works by Bluetooth once activated. I have not linked my vaccination certificate yet. Will it ask me to do that once activated or can I just show my Aussie international vaccination certificate?

When you downloaded the app for the first time it would have asked for your name and passport number. As you supply your vax records when applying for the VTL it links the two automatically.

It does beg the question, when the VTL is dropped how do they intend to do the linking or will short term visitors still require the upload vax cert with the e arrival card. I guess time will tell.

I'm probably not the right person to ask, as I was vaccinated in Singapore, so only know the problems in reverse (when travelling to Australia).

Is this effective immediately? Or did they proffer a date?
