ASA One Million Seat Promotion

Just got the email for this.

Interesting that QF value the points at 10c each!

I was wondering if you get multiple entries for multiple bookings? The terms and conditions don't say either way, and the wording "For your chance to win, simply use your points to book an Any Seat Award*, including Points Plus Pay, on a Qantas flight between 6 and 19 October 2011 to be automatically entered into the draw" could be taken either way. My take is that you can only ever get one entry no matter how many ASAs you book, but I might be wrong?

The draw based on individual bookings so you can get multiple entries if you make multiple (separate PNR) bookings. :)

Having won the first ever online redemption competition 10 years ago, I think its my time again :lol:, so what is an ASA

Beaudy!

So one can get extra entries in (if using Points AND $$$) for a cost on $7.70 per domestic/TT and $30 per International booking by booking one-ways...

Having 'won' one competition this week, I don't like my chances of winning another so soon after. That, and I don't have anywhere near enough points to start randomly burning them on ASA's for the chance to win a million points (although it would be nice!).

I had been planning to book several JASA's through to June in any case.

Dammit Drewbles!! Why do you have to be so sensible and annunciate the thoughts I already had!!

After having just burned an LAX-SYD J award, I was saving them up for another of the same..............but then.........doh...........

There needs to be a self-exclusion option on your FF account ;)

I booked an ASA for MEL-SYD for the next FLounge run, but with the announcement of multiple entries I'm actually thinking of burning ~12K points on JQ35, for which I'd get no miles or SCs in return.

Someone stop me before I do something stupid.

You will find you can upgrade the ASA to one that earns points and SCs for 2000 or so points !

You also get priority boarding, not that will be used ;)

Consistently happens. I keep saving up for the OW 'RTW' J/F fares, and as i'm getting near my target, I do things like upgrade MEL-PER sectors to J and burn them on random flights to catch up with mates for boozy w/ends.

This time, i'm saving 'em. Shouldn't be long before the 'RTW' F is ready to go :)

You are the ASA King! Done, booked, points burned, I really really deserve the million miles more than the rest of you.

Fuggit, fuggit fuggit

Comp entries only for QF flight numbers

Fuggit fuggit fuggit

Oh well, still have one entry

What's more important - an "upgraded" seat that earns SC's and points + ability to Flounge, or a chance to win 1M points. I know which one I'd take

Hmm - QANTAS says 1 million ASAs have been taken in the 3 years they've been available. That's about ~20,000/month (and I suspect running at a higher level now, as they've become more well known as an option). Odds are not too bad, but that great either.

Thanks for putting the actual chances of winning into perspective:mrgreen:. The competition is open for ~2 weeks, so each entry will have at most a 1/10,000 chance of winning the major prize:shock:

Assuming there is no incremental demand owing to a small incentive?

And a 1/1000 chance of winning the runner up prizes. Much better odds than lotto :)
