Rogers looking well set. Nothing like experience away from home.

And yes, the title should read Ashes 2015. Typo.

Australia were looking very good at the start, didn't they have 3 wickets in about the first hour or so of the test, since then its all gone a bit down hill with England compiling a pretty decent score.... 3/185 Lets hope we can push on and surpass England's first innings...

Cook wasn't looking so good after that hit to the groin... ohh dear one of the worst Ive seen, ouch.

Went to bed last night and Steve Smith was on 30 and Rogers 70. Haven't seen a score yet this morning.

I'll change the subject date when I'm on my laptop

I was in the same boat QFWP and was a bit disappointed to read the overnight summary. Still, Australia are not gone by a long shot, if they can add another 120 to 150 for the last 5, they have a chance. The attack is really missing Harris, but those remaining are capable of taking 10 wickets cheaply.

Johnson needs to take his angry pills

had a good chuckle, when Johnson got a standing ovation for conceding 100 runs for no wickets

Should be an interesting day 3. I hate to say it, but England are well on top here I feel. Drawing level on the first innings won't be enough for us I reckon, so unless Watson, Haddin and the tail can drag us up to 480-500, England's fast scoring on day 1 has put us in real trouble.

Harris will be sorely missed.

The team selections puzzle me greatly. Rogers almost 38. Clarke 34. Voges almost 36. Watson 34. Haddin almost 38. Johnson almost 34.

More than half the team is getting close to retirement. Looks like this will be the last series for Rogers before he retires.

When do we start blooding younger players? Or we don't have any good enough to play test cricket?

Shortly. Hence the Dad's army jokes.
While old Rogers, Voges, Haddin in particular were kept out of the team by previous generations, continued to play in Shield cricket and got better.
Am sure the next generation will do the same, albeit we haven't had a really young player for a while

Not a good start to the 3rd morning for us. All out for 308 so still 122 runs behind on first innings.

Interesting to see if our bowlers can man up and get England out cheaply to give us a chance of victory.

Need to be very cheaply. Anything more than 250-300 to chase will be tough on this pitch.

Not an easy task for Roger's to be the only batsman ever to get 8 50s in a row, but probably needed

Unlikely target to chase 400+ but commenters talked about Rogers scoring a double hundred in a County match second innings to chase a target. Really it comes down to him and Smith staying in for a very long time and scoring our runs.

Are we a chance at chasing 412 on this pitch?

At one stage the target looked like it was going to be an impossible number.

It's a massive chase no doubt on what looks to be a deteriorating pitch
(Then again I was in Antigua in 2003)

It's rare that a chase of that magnitude begins at the start of the fourth day, so historical precedent may be a bit misleading. But given that the scores have got lower through the match, it would be quite an effort. I think England might be a little less likely to go to pieces in the field under Bayliss, too. But I wouldn't be surprised if there's a twist or two left in the tale.

In theory there's plenty of time to chase over 400 but the weather may be against us. I've heard rumours that there will be rain on Day 5 so we'd better score plenty of runs on Day 4.

Thanks for starting the thread. I look forward to reading it and contributing.

Good thread!

I remember being at Lords when The Master Blaster came in to bat for WI at 1/201, and then hit Willis for 4 fours in first four balls. The match continued and was rained out and the English press said England had done well to match the WI. Sheesh. But that was history.

Not impressed so far with current form of our team. Come on. Get a bit more intense and show the form we've developed over the last couple of years.

Mitch needs to get more intense so does Watson, whom I used to like, but I wonder if he's wasting the place for Marsh. And Smith needs to get a grip on English pitches.

Looking fwd to tonight but also have TDF on other channel recording.
