Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

I think we will have a different afternoon, especially by 2.30 or 3 PM, there are signs of activity at Dalby.
well it certainly has been in the BOM forecast for a few days now.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Well this is quite a coup. Can't believe the bowlers have come alive.

Any more danger men on the horizon?

That said, the English bowlers are pretty stolid. Maybe they don't score high, but they are frustrating to get out.

Nothing to bad as at 2:30pm

Note this is the 256km view, so its a long way off the Gabba at the moment and the closest weather is moving in a path to the south of the Gabba.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

What did the bowlers have this morning or last night that they didn't get in England? This is nuts.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Well they just confirmed what I thought I may have seen on the first replay of Swann's dismissal...front foot no ball (just). Not that I mind. ;)

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Could we see Australia enforce a follow-on?

Always possible if the numbers are right but seems to be rarely done these days unless you're about 800 runs ahead!

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Went to a meeting for 20 minutes and came out in an alternate universe.

Ah well. Here's to the start of the poor decisions (also possibly the gossip of poor use of the decision review system).

Who are you supporting?

Well I was born in the UK and grew up in HK... :p oh and both my parents are English, as am I.

I believe the term "passport of convenience" comes to mind. Though QLD hasn't been terribly convenient to me.

I think you need to get some Australian patents

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

With the way the England team "can" play, we may need to give them well more than 500 if allowing 2 days to chase.

Giving them a total of 500 in just over a day of play? That's a tall ask.

If the Australians can attack like they just did then, giving them a chase of 500 should be quite unnecessary.

Of course, for what we know it could well be a fielding boon now, and the English are going to hand back to us in our second dig what we just obliterated them with in their first dig. Then, we could still be in the soup.

Let's not forget that our top order has been quite vulnerable. They're not supposed to be, but so be it.

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

Luckily I put the disclaimer in:oops::oops::oops:. England all out for 136 in 1st innings, and now Australia 224 runs ahead with all ten 2nd innings wickets in hand.....
Don't want to be a pessimist, but unless the bowlers perform a miracle, another test match is starting to slip from our grasp. I cannot see the current Australian team regaining the Ashes but would be happy to be proven wrong!

So you are supporting Australia?

Re: First Ashes Test - live TR

So the English press have now relabelled the Gabba-now the gabbatoir-
Was always known as gabbatoir in AFL circles when Brisbane Lions were at peak of their game 2001 to 2004 - they slaughtered most visiting teams in that period.
