ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Small ATO bill last week got points on Altitude Black M/C. Trying AMEX next week, but from what people are saying on here it won't be a problem either.

It's not a problem. I've been hitting this card rather hard the past few months and everything is crediting.

I am not sure why BankWest have not paid points on ATO this past month. It could be because of the $200k points limit cap or they may have stopped ATO points earning. I will check once I receive the monthly statement but it is looking like I spent a $50 note to get dust. The problem with BankWest is you can get different answers on the card capping anniversary date from the call centre.
Meanwhile Westpac Black Amex and Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum are both working ok.

I can report that the CBA Diamond Amex continues to award points for ATO transactions. I just got credited for last month's BAS expenditure.

Yesterday I thought I would try the DJs Amex, despite only earning the low 1 point per dollar. Points were given for the transaction. I had prepaid the credit card prior and the transaction went through fine. I then tried to process another, with easily enough available credit, but it would not allow me to. I cannot remember the error message but something like transaction declined.

AMEX normally does not allow you to top up the amount which is larger than you limit, and you balance can't become credit, otherwise they will block your account immediately. Maybe your 2nd transaction is due to that reason.

Do you have a Woolies EDRCC as the fee is modest. I don't suggest you pay more than $10,000 unless you have heaps of personal stuff going through that card.

In a momement of senility I used my CITIBANK card, woke up when I got the statement and saw the loading and no points.

I totally understand being just another way to wake up in a cold sweat.
My Office Manager gets a kick out of the machinations we constantly go through paying bills to maximise points at minimal cost.
This month has been particularly hectic balancing statement period points caps, load and reloads and stretching card abuse levels.

Hi Cove. Yes I have read that the EDRCC is an excellent card to have, and will apply for that soon (although I have been saying this for a year now I think). I do need to spread the love around a few cards due to size of some of my transactions, the current BAS run was around 100K - not in your league I realise, but large enough to need to use better cards.

The reason I accidentally used the DJs was I was prepaying my card to pay for the individuals PAYG and I accidentally paid the DJs card in error. Dumb mistake, but I needed to pay the tax and didn't have enough time to wait for a refund. I have just chalked that down to stupidity and moving on.

We are using Black Altitude and soon Black Earth as well as 2 Platinum Krisflyer cards from Westpac.
We are off to London thanks to SQ and BA and then back on SQ.
Don't panic Rallygirl we learn more from our mistakes than our successes.
Have you figured that just over $60k gets you a Saver seat on SQ Suites to London or Los Angeles?
It is making it harder to be home. That run for us is out of Singapore of course as no A380s run out of Perth.

I'm wait listed on the SQ suites back from LHR fingers crossed.

Did get 2 Qantas first to LAX on the A380 booked which should be fun :)

Pukka does that mean someone beat you to the Saver points redemption so there is only Standard points seats available now?

Not sure how it works

I'm booking almost a year ahead if they're not there does that mean someone has already nabbed them :(

They're just listed as wait list

To London and back there is one Saver and at least one Standard per A380 fight unless something has changed.
