ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I think that the NAB have dealt with this fairly - they say they will only pay/award QF points on the first $100,000 of "purchases" in any statement period. THis means that you can't artificially preload/credit/whatever the account beyond $100K per statement period.

I think I would be able to survive earning 'only' 1.2M points a year... lol

With the Qantas double points offer would it be a good time to load on the Qantas cash card, the 3 business days isn't the most friendliest option though.

Just been reading about Qantas Cash Card and wondering if anyone has used this card to pay ATO bill. Maximum load is $20000 per day, up to $100000 per annum. Load the money through bpay and then pay bill like a credit card.

1 point per dollar until june 20, but I won't be using it

I've been thinking about it too. Does anyone know if it definitely earns the points? If not I could do a small test transaction I suppose, but the points take a while to show up, and I need to make the payment by end of May.

I have a couple of k to pay .. so BPaying to QantasCash, and then paying ATO online makes sense as it removes the question of "borrowing the funds" and avoids any WWEDR MC issues.
If anyone has seen points come through for ATO payments on QantasCash, please post :)

Bit of QF thread, but does anybody know of any cards that earn VA points for ATO, as the Virgin cards that are issued by Citi do not earn any, the Westpac Altitude will let you transfer points to Velocity but are there any other with direct earn?

NAB Platinum Amex 1.5FF points is OK if you are happy to wear the ATO fees. NAB Plat Visa earns less FF points (0.5 to 0.625) than the Black Westpac MC's.

can anyone advise if we can earn points on citibank signature card for bas payment?

It's 1/$ if you transfer direct to Qantas with sig select but 0 if you don't (last time I used it) but I rarely use it these days I usually go with CBA Diamond at 1.5 per $

Hi All first post...

I'm new to all this points business, having just started with an Amex platinum rewards card 2 months ago, and already up to 50,000 points I'm starting to get obsessed.

I have a small project management business, and an opportunity to pay taxes for some projects i run aswell. my amex seems to give 1pt/$ on the platinum and .5 on the green charge card. However the t&c's say it will only pay .5 on all amex???? does this work for others?

In any case i'm thinking of getting a rewards visa/mc for all high surcharge or not accepted amex spending... But given i can probably maximize points through ATO spending (prob circa $300k per year in my projects business taxes) I'm wondering which is the best card for this. having read through pages of posts i believe its probably the Westpac Black Altitude. Is this still working for people?

Also can anyone recomend the St George Signature?

I'm in the same boat, currently looking for a new card as I JUST realised Citibank Business Gold stopped paying points :( for ato payments, I've read through at least 200 pages, from what I can gather, Westpac Black Altitude is still working, and probably CBA Diamond and maybe NAB? can anyone confirm?

All Big 4 are working.
I swear we need a "What cards are still working for ATO spend?" thread because the question keeps getting asked every couple of days and the answer doesn't bloody change! (And hasn't since CitiRewards stopped.)

welcome viper8548. Beta4me's reply says it all. I still use platinum AMEX.

If you use a Big4 premium co-branded Amex you should earn 1.5 points per dollar with ATO unless you have a points capped card and you go over the monthly limit. My partners use a Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer card which costs them $195 per year instead of the Westpac Black Altitude card as it costs $200 more. They all canned Amex Ultimate. For Qantas points they have Woolies Everyday Rewards Credit cards.
These cards don't warehouse the points so they have to use the points on Kris Flyer inside the 3 plus 1 year time limit.
Amex direct branded cards are too expensive to use for ATO regardless of whether they are Platinum,Centurion, Green,Gold, Ultimate or any other colour seeing they earn either half or one point per dollar. Centurion is capped so that one is close to the worst to use.

The man has spoken! Best advice you will get.

Welcome Caltan82 and viper8548, as cove mentioned I use a Big4 Platinum Amex and get 1.5 per dollar.
Simply load the card up before paying ATO. Very happy with my card.
