ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Does any of the Big4 Premium cards have the infamous BillPay barcode on their statements (paper or otherwise)?

Well I have a HSBC premier mastercard with the POSTbillpay barcode. Counter staff scanned it, but Qantascash payment options were only Cheque or Savings, so no go with credit. I did try to pay with cheque and savings options but it was not possible (ie transaction declined).

Does this barcode on your HSBC card work at the self-check out machines at AusPost?

Also when the counter staff scan it, do they also ask you to swipe your HSBC card to before you pay the bill using cash/EFTPOS?

I then proceeded to the self-check out machines and the barcode doesn't work.

And yes, I had to swipe my HSBC card after counter staff scanned the barcode before being able to proceed (or not proceed, as it turned out).

Thanks mate.

It seems to run to a maximum of 133 years and 10 months for me. I did leave about $250k on the free days and that is a lovely feature of the CC system.
I can run to higher numbers but I don't think it changes the years.
Has anyone cracked the $100,000 credit limit to pay you know who?
50K for me, getting bored so might put in for an increase just for fun

grade 3 question, but if my BAS is due on the 28th and i can make full payment on that date, should i have my card statement run until the 27th to maximise interest free days? (ignoring issues about needing to reload etc)

heart skipped a beat for a second, paying with my favorite 1:1 Mastercard came up declined... Please contact your financial provider...

A quick few deep breaths and tried again, only to notice on my initial attempt I didn't actually put in my cards expiry date

Ok tdogshookem get the settlement/payment date to be around 25th of the month for your circumstances I would think.
My two sons are going Suites today thanks to this thread and I hope they are enjoying The Private Room in Changi this morning.

I just noticed on the WBC website that their business platinum card only pays 0.5ppd for government transactions. I am hoping that this has always been the case and it is not a sign of things to come.

Hi ghost dunks or anyone else who can help! Quick question. About to follow your footsteps with paying my tax with the altitude black during the the double rewards point period and am waiting to receive my black card. When i spoke to westpac though they indicated that I wouldn't get any points on government charges including paying my tax. Just wondering if your transaction went through and you got points in the bank?
I'm feeling a bit hesitant loading up my credit card and paying their surcharge if I don't get the double points or any points for that matter...

Westpac has still been paying on ATO so no need to call.
Black Altitude MasterCard pays 0.625 points and the Altitude Black Amex 1.5 points (subject to 3 month promo doubler).
On Platinum Kris Flyer Visa it pays 0.5 points on Visa and 1.5 points on the co-branded Amex.

Yes, I paid my tax just around the beginning of this month, and received my reward points straightaway. Have not received the double points yet, but thats not supposed to hit the account until after the 3 month promo period ends, so I wouldn't expect it until then. Also, please do NOT call them(Westpac) up to ask whether or not you'll get points on paying the ATO, as we don't want this practice to get "enhanced" away, and the more attention brought to it as a method of running up points, the more likely they will remove it.

I'm rather disappointed that someone who is aware of this thread still needs to be reassured by asking W THAT question.

Everything one needs to know is here.... and more.

Yeah. It's quite extraordinary. It's one thing helping people. It's totally another thing spoon feeding information that could be obtained with an absolute minimum of effort with a mouse, a few clicks, an eyeball or two and a few processing cells. Sorry to be so harsh but I do shake my head at times.

And for anyone who bothers to read this: please don't ring the banks to ask. Please read as much of this thread as you can. You don't need to start at the beginning. But PLEASE make some efforts of your own.
