ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks Cove for the idea of $50K per day. It is a real pain when the card is stopped & it is being used to run up other business expenses... Kind of throws a real dangerous spanner in the works.... I try to keep things running smoothly below the radar here.

I assume the telephone betty @ the ATO has a $50K limit as well?

P.

My automaton girlfriend can take 5 lots of $50,000 per phone call at the Tax Office.

When you gonna marry her Cove

You make her sound so nice and nearly talk about her daily these days lol

Edit: Whats her name lol

Actually I called her today and she helped out with a quick 33,000 points. Her appetite is quite big so she can help you too!

Perhaps I should check this chick out......however my payments are small compared with you cove...

However someone told me once...

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog....he he :)

Just remember it is just a game.
It is easy to make mistakes and I am just plugging away.
If you haven't read my "Frequent Flyer Fiend And The Game" in blogs section then you won't be totally warped in chasing points.
I am not sure whether it is good to be warped !
By the way I really hope everyone gets a buzz out of paying any sized tax bill on a point a dollar Visa or MasterCard this month.

Same here, I really should change my Woolworths / Qantas Everydayrewards Credit Card for the new plat card from HSBC, since I'm starting to run business expenses through the woolworths card which is not allowed.

Yeah, i noticed this too. Has anyone not received the points for an ATO payment that was a business expense though?

Capping only matters if you get up there so it affects probably less than 10 per cent of card users.
I can tell you that CitiSelect,Woolworths EDR,Westpac Platinum Amex Krisflyer and Amex Ultimate that I use are uncapped.
BankWest Platinum is capped at 200,000 and Cenurion Amex is capped at 500,000.
I don't know about HSBC but they run the Woolworths EDR card and their BPay can be a day too slow.
The Big 4 banks Visa and MasterCards are not competitive so I stopped using them so it doesn't matter whether they are uncapped or not as half a point per dollar is a big loss for a loyal customer.

Yeah, I am using Krisflyer Plat Amex and Amex Ultimate for my tax bills but I also have Amex Platinum and Citibank Plat Mastercard with Qantas rewards. The Citibank is capped but i can't remember what the limit is. Now that they've reduced the MC/visa fee, I think I should try to find a good 1:1 card, rather than continuing with the Amex cards for ATO bills. My BAS's are high so capping is an issue.

So anyway, it seems that the HSBC Platinum is capped at 300,000 points pa but that the Everyday Rewards card is uncapped (but not supposed to be used for business expenses)... but i stand to be corrected.

Slow BPAY would be annoying but you can still load the EDR card can't you?

I didn't know about CitiSelect. Can this be linked up with Qantas rewards? If so, is there still no cap?

Thanks.

The cost suddenly changed with the Visa and MasterCard fee dropping.
CitiSelect Visa converts at 1.333 points per dollar spent to SQ Kris points or to 1 point per dollar for QF points. Both of these cards are uncapped.
The two problems are the annual fee of 700 for SQ or 749 for QF and the 120,000 income proof.
This card gets you real points on Singapore Airlines for 0.36 cents compared with Westpac Amex Kris Flyer Platinum at 0.833 cents a point.
HSBC and Woolworths EDR BPay may be a day later than the others now so it is not too annoying.

Thanks cove! Very helpful!

It has dawned on me that I need a bigger BPay limit so paying the Fiscal Fiend doesn't become a drawn out daily affair just to get it all finished by the 2 due dates.

It has been a huge Visa and MasterCard month for me Angus but I now wish I had asked for a much bigger BPay amount per day as I have had to spend 10 minutes each day to hit a home run.
I am not complaining.....in fact I am stoked with what I have accomplished.

Me too - I had not noticed that the Visa co-payment had dropped from 0.65% to 0.48% - I wonder if Amex with follow suit and reduce their rate? We can but hope...
To paraphrase one who knows at the AFF meeting in CBR earlier this month: "Not a chance"!

Sorry for being slow but I just realized that, at 0.48% card payment fee, that is (obviously) over 2 points per cent cost on a 1 pt = $1 basis, on the Citibusiness 1.25 pts = $1 it is even better at 2.6 points per cent cost, or 0.385c per point... ($125 annual fee, points capped at 80k pts)

PS: Did anyone else get a phone call from Amex a few weeks back offering 20,000 bonus points on all purchases between now and 31 December 2011?
I agreed and forgot about it then had a pleasant surprise to see both my business and personal Amex getting double points for everything...
