ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Looks like ANZ Rewards Black is still viable (although the field is now very narrow). visa earn at 0.88 & Amex earn at 1.33.

I have one , but haven't received this offer .
Can I ask how they sent it & are there any other details we could know about as I will enquire about it.

It came in the (snail) mail, one of those glossy cardboard promotions:

It seemed fairly unambiguous; you earn your normal points plus "bonus" points to make total of 3 points/$. Everywhere except, interestingly, at David Jones where it is only 2 points/$. There doesn't seem to be much more to it other than the previously mentioned 20000 bonus point limit, and it cuts out on 30 June. It requires registration on line, here is the link if you want to try your luck but I guess it may be targeted if you haven't received the offer.

I'm having Mondayitis - how did you get those earn rates?
I'm seeing $1 = 3 Reward points = (say) 1 Velocity for the Amex side.

cheers

According to ANZ rewards site (https://anzrewards.com/public/redeem_ff_product.aspx?id=16548&quantity=1):
"Redeem multiples of 2,250 Reward Points for 1,000 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points." Effectively 2.25 ANZ points per Velocity point.

If Amex earns 3 ANZ Rewards points, that's 1.33 Velocity points per dollar;
If visa earns 2 ANZ Rewards points, that's 0.89 Velocity Points per dollar.

Keen to confirm I've understood it right (doing this on my mobile). May switch to Black from my Unused Platinum now my cheap BT has been repaid. Have some ATO coming up in a few weeks.

The VFF earn rate is correct. I think the way the site presents the Asia Miles and KF miles is sneaky as the main page makes it look like they convert 2:1 when it is really 3:1

Agree 100% - Took me ages to get my head around this and even second guessed myself a few times. In the end it's a pretty poor earn rate vs the likes of Westpac Black for KF but it's still paying on ATO which is why it's now in my wallet.

Couldn't agree more. I am using NAB velocity premium at the moment...well until it stops ATO on 1st May, then I will progress to ANZ Black, but I'm still searching, in vain, for a better KF earning ATO friendly card. Any updates from the Amplify users would be appreciated, I recollect someone not getting ATO points a few weeks ago.
Also anyone know of a UK credit card that can transfer to KF? Just trying to broaden the horizons like grand master Cove and his US Citi card ;)

Today I received our personal tax bills. Death and taxes seem to be pretty certain. I think I will pay these before we take our next Suites ride.

Only Amex issued MR cards to my knowledge. They earn 1 kf per GBP spent so pretty poor. There is a product called the Amex International Dollar Card which apparently takes some hoops to get through but earns at 1KF per USD

:shock::shock: I hope there's not a subliminal message there, cove.

As CE has advised Citi has a suite of Visa cards to run up Kris Miles but none that work for ATO. So I have Citi Select(Prestige) as it earns a net 1.33 Kris Miles per dollar spend and you can warehouse the miles to avoid expiry.
This month can be a thrill for a bank whose name is near the back of the alphabetical order. 1.25 Miles for a cost of 1.45 cents is still ok for SQ Suites Savers or First or Business seats.

No special message JohnM. Taxes come first.
I really should go to Switzerland to visit the rellies and a couple of suppliers over there.

Had 10 ATO accounts to pay today and I worked out I was operating at better than xx_,000 miles an hour for a while. Taxes came first JohnM and no I am not sending a thank you note to the Bank.

Had called up to do the switch offered me 0% BT for 16 months took that instead of switching. No concessions to move to black as offset for not applying as a new customer.

Pretty happy with result. Will use another card for next ATO payment. Besides faster accumulation on Amex.

Had an ATO card payment declined last week for a card with 4 capital letters in it's name. Not sure if it was a one off glitch. No doubt if stay tuned here long enough we will see.

The trick with the ANZ black (amex or visa - earning to altitude) is that they have a very poor transfer rate to CX/SQ of 3:1, whereas Westpac tfrs at 2:1 - 50% better.
