ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Might use 5 different cards for my next ATO this month.
Hi cove
is this 5 different types of card ie Westpac sq, anz black, Macquaire etc etc
or
5 different family members cards ie Westpac sq x 3 (yours, mrs cove's, cove junior's) etc etc

Cheers Danger UXB

For both I think. And how could I pass up $2500 on that WOW card from the Silver Donut?
Always remember the first million FF points are the hardest.
Use WOW,WBC,ANZ,HSBC and QCU this month leaving US Citi as a spare because the exchange rate is moving all over the place.
The WBC is Plat Kris and the ANZ Black is Amex.

Have to pay my quarterly BAS and PAYG soon (around $50k total) and my ANZ Amex (1.5 points per $) has been limited to 6000 points per month. I like to earn QF points and am looking for another option.

So far its a choice between:

1) Change my CBA Diamond Awards MC to Qantas direct ($10 per year) and earn 1.25 points per $ = 0.66 QF points per dollar - 500,000 QF limit per year

2) Apply for HSBC Platinum - $199 per year but I get 1 QFF per $ spent and bonus 20k QF points - can't see any limit

I totally recommend the CBA Diamond Amex. 1.5 QFF per $ on ANY spend. Only problem is the the points are limited to 500k QFF (1mil CBA).

This is from another thread but is news to me.
Since when did the ANZ Black not allow ATO charges or capped it ?
Were we notified ?
I certainly wasn't.

On my Citibank signature visa and ANZ Frequent Flyer American Express we regularly tip in prepayments for large purchases in excess of credit limit and the points have always been paid to us in the past. However need to cancel the ANZ due to the new points cap and upcoming non points on government charges as we have been using it to pay ATO at 1.5 points per dollar. I'm finding it hard to find a card to replace it with to pay ATO and would appreciate any suggestions.

Could not use BankWest which is a business name of the Commonwealth Bank as we are at the 200k cap until August.
Now I used two WOW cards to get them up to 2500 points for June (each).... I enjoyed doing that even though it is small. It's the thrill of getting the better of you know who.
In walks my son so both his cards got loaded.
That is the risk of arriving when I am paying the fiscal fiend.

Seems your sage advice was a little late ".... BankWest just told me ...."

No matter how often it is offered and repeated, some people still finds it simpler to call up the issuing banks to argue / enquire about their point(s).

and they keep being told the wrong thing. SO: how many times does it have to be written in this thread--The answers are here NOT at the bank. Make some sort of effort to read at least the last ten pages

I would guess there are only small numbers of calls to banks coming from people who might already have seen this thread and should know better. On the other hand there would be large numbers of calls generated by stories on travel blogs / newspapers about "making mega points paying your tax" (can provide links to these stories if required). The river may soon become a trickle but to be honest this is probably not the fault of a few newcomers asking silly questions of the wrong people.

Hi all - newbie here with a stupid question. I just got my ANZ Rewards Black which I understand is still giving points for ATO. My question, do I have to ring the ATO to pay? I assume Bpay doesn't work…. thanks again

Thanks for the tip on citi. I made a payment to OSR in Jan and it worked. Looks like they're gradually working through their system to tighten things up.

i might be jumping the gun, but transaction is showing on the online portal but my points balance hasn't increased. will report back if i was incorrect (fingers crossed!).

Ok fingers crossed ... I did a large strata payment last week points posted a day after transaction posted so hopefully might be the case with OSR.
