ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

So just to sum up,

QCU and nothing else?

I have over 20k to pay =\
I believe the ANZ Black Amex will pay 1.5/$ unlimited if you're prepared to wear the Amex fee vs the MC/VC fee.

Anyone doing the pre-paid VC option these days? I.e. buy pre-paid VC with Amex (or other credit card that gives unlimited points for non-ATO purchases) and then using them for ATO?

I'm not sure about unlimited don't quite have the resources to test that lol.
But cove would probably know

Someone I recently put onto the CC/ATO points game. They put though $600,000 via ANZ Rewards Back using the Visa in a single statement period not sure what people are thinking when talking "Unlimited" but thats a hell of a lot in my book. I also recommend having a good look at the earn rate difference between the Visa and AMEX for ANZ Black I always used AMEX prior to the value increase to ANZ Rewards Points to Velocity as I wanted to Maximise points but getting 1 point per $1 on the Visa 0.45% surcharge is hard value to pass up.

* housemates electing to pay via credit card will incur
transaction costs of 1.5% for Visa/Mastercard or 3.3% for American Express transactions.

That's a steep surcharge for Amex. Would make each point cost > 2 c each
Not as bad for Visa, 1.5 c per point for some cards
Although for citi prestige that would give you 1.33 KF points for 1.5% cost which is not s bad deal

Anyone tried it for ATO?

I have just signed up and played around. Can't see any reason why ATO would not work. It's a pretty bad website and painful to navigate however could be really good for anyone paying rent and I guess expensive ATO if you don't have an ATO Card, or we might all be using it if the banks keep shutting down ATO options.

The proceeds have to be paid to a trust account of a licensed real estate agent, so that would rule out ATO.

I would also bet that as this organisation does not have a financial services license (AFSL) and is dealing in a financial product and/or service, that it will most likely be shut down in the short term.

I am not sure if you have investigated the full functions of the site. Once you complete the set-up you can add additional "suppliers" and then enter bill details, seems any bill with a Bpay number will be able to be paid using this function so ATO should work. These will then be paid via the CC card on file.
Regarding the (AFSL) I don't have a lot of knowledge on this front but I would be surprised if NAB would have allowed their Secure Payments API be used if this was going to be an issue.

Ok, ATO has been set up as a biller. For whatever reason you can't set the payment date to be within about 3 weeks.Looks like it's ready to go. I will report back whether it works!

The payment for this bill will be automatically processed on 01/09/2015.

NAB would have no idea how their payment API is being used, they would have simply signed up as a merchant, just like any other.

I would be surprised if there wasn't a secondary check done on the bill payer.

This is a financial product and/or service, therefore would require an AFSL.

Of further concern is that ASIC lists a number of major changes to shareholders, ownership structure and contact details in the last 6 months. Frankly this alone makes me think this is a scam operation. I would not be putting vast amounts of cash through this service, in fact they won't be seeing a dollar from me and technically as I work in financial services I believe I am obligated to report them to ASIC.

Again, red flags right there.

a quick search brought up this other option : have to have a listed landlord but most reputable/larger companies are all there. it's listed on the qantas website as well so i assume it's legit.
can't find a clear listing of their fees but it says near the end of the sign up there's a 1.76% surcharge and no mention of a different rate for amex.

https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/rental

https://rentalrewards.com.au/

would be keen to hear the outcome of easyshare... if it's indeed legit the slightly lower rate on a visa would make it appealing for sure..

I'm pretty sure there is a grace period for HSBC Plat holders who signed up during 2015 before the changes were made
Looks like you're correct Andye - my ATO payments made this past week have come through overnight at 1:1 in my QFF account despite being way over the $20k level (my billing cycle is around 10th of the month) I am however unsure what the limit is for the coming month.

With the ANZ Black which option would people choose?

VISA 0.392 cents per point
AMEX 0.677 cents per point

I am leaning to the AMEX.
