ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

So I used several cards this morning including Westpac Kris Amex, QCU,WOW and 2 ANZ Black Amexes. My wife's Earth Black Amex did not work so I had better check what caused it to flunk out. Maybe the card was updated and I was trying the old card. Next month Bankwest and HSBC should be ready for action. My son is pretty happy his card was used as well.

OK...If anyone asks what cards are working in the next 20 posts please take them outside and shoot them. Very clever post cove. Well done

Can we restrict the shooting to the folks who ask about Citibank Australian cards and ATO ? Or should we expand it to the new sign ups for Amex Velocity as well as those points cost 2.9 cents each? By the way Newk did the law on shooting change while we were in the U.S.?
I drive very politely in the U.S. as you don't know what type of weapon the person who just merged in front of you without indicating has in their vehicle.

Without wanting to take this more off topic 110K points for $349 doesn't equal 2.9 cents to me?

As evidenced by the nightly shootings in SW Sydney, it is allowed here providing you have a really good reason...or a note from your mum.

Wow, that's scary.

I agree with you about driving in the USA. And the "take them outside......" line is something from Catch 22 that sticks in my brain. Sorry if it offends anyone. Advocating shooting people isn't the smartest thing to do sorry. I'll think of another line next time.

Burmans I was meaning that if you pay ATO on your new Amex Velocity card those 0.5 points earned are costing 1.45%. That is the 2.9 cents I was referring to in my post.
Yes the 110,000 point Velocity Amex offer is a 2015 bargain and at our 5 work offices we have had sign ups and often with their +1s. Now they are signing up business associates so more points fiends in Australia.
Shootings need to be off the agenda Newk so I am agreeing with you.

If you drive a pickup, then the weapon you have will mostly be bigger.

I plan to get an A-team van when going to the USA.

At the risk of being taken outside...my understanding is that WOW has a $2,500 limit for 1pt/$1 earnings and QCU only pays 0.5pt/$1...are there any current 'unlimited $1/1pt' Visa or Mastercards out there, as my ATO spend is over that level? I am presently spreading payments across WOW & HSBC (which also has a 2,500 limit)....I'm happy to pay the Amex fee, but have no desire for the KrisFlyer card....hears the sound of hammers being coughed

QCU is better than 0.5 points per dollar......actually double that.
Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer has no more cards being issued and is Westpac's best card for our use.
WOW does pay 0.5 points per dollar after the first $2500 and it is uncapped.

Thanks for clarification on QCU - I must have misread their T&Cs where I last looked. Looks like their plat card is a worthwhile addition to the wallet. :)

FWIW I got an ANZ visa/amex card set with 50,000 points after $3,000.

Paid first BAS, no issues, got my 2 points on Amex and budda bing days later there are 50,000 points for me.

The same happened for me on last month's BAS using the ANZ Amex...am unsure whether to risk it again?! Am I being over-cautious? (I've received the 50k bonus this month as well).

I've spent $18k on tax et al for ANZ Black in first month of card, got the 24k QFF points but no 50k bonus points yet.

Two points per dollar on the Amex? You mean 1.5 QFF points?

Nope, 2 QFF points per dollar with an ANZ card. Unless I am getting my cards mixed up; too many credit card applications at present.

Gets better, take a Commonwealth Bank platinum(?) card and it is 2.5 QFF points per dollar on Amex.

I could be wrong, but I think the CBA platinum is 2.5 rewards points that convert to 1.25QFF ppd.

Am looking forward to using a capped Visa in September. I think that I can get to the capping again within a short time.So for September I have 3 cards that will work at the 0.42% rate
