ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

With the recent charges to the CBA Diamond credit card; I am confused if the inability to earn points for ATO purchases is limited to personal cards or does it encompass business cards as well?

Business cards still earn, but the max rate is 'plat' level.

Woomp001 you might find help in the blog "Establshing A Credit Rating In America". We went chasing US credit cards after we bought a place over in the US and had bills to pay. I did "Frequent flyer fiend and the game" as I progressed through making points and using them. JS really fired our lives up because some ATO bills we pay are eye watering amounts.

Thanks for the info. Are the business cards capped?

Unfortunately, they are capped at very low levels. 300,000 max for the Platinum, which as Rooflyer said, is the highest level Business card. That, I presume, equates to 150,000 QFF points max.

That is 1 month for me.
I've got the Westpac KrisFlyer and the ANZ Black. I am doing some homework as a hedge for the future.
I'm conflicted because SQ is cheap to redeem and I do tend to find seats if I'm able to be flexible. While QF is very expensive for redemption, my status with them enables me to search for additional inventory not open to to Joe Public. Hence I am continually conflicted - SQ or QF.

I've looked through the past pages and can't find any commentary on the Westpac Business Choice Rewards Card, any idea if it pays points for ATO?

The T&Cs don't have anything about ATO not earning in them. Note that BusinessChoice earns Acquire points, not Qantas points. Or you could go for the Altitude Business Platinum which can transfer to KrisFlyer and Qantas and others, with no capping.

Thanks. I can then get Aquire to Qantas FF at 1:1.
Is there ATO earn on the Altitude Business Platinum? I once used to have a Westpac Earth Black and it was MAGICAL. When Westpac halved, I mean enhanced, the earn rate the card met a fateful end

Oh, it's only 0.5 Altitude rewards points on the Business Platinum, I only looked at it earning ATO spend at all.

I can confirm this card does pay for ATO at .66 QFF per dollar and no mention of a cap
also you can supply them with your QFF number and they will sweep points directly to your account monthly
However they are a nightmare to deal with and when you call them be prepared to be bounced around from one person to another.

from what I've read in this forum the other Westpac business cards only pay half the Altitude points on ATO spend

Yes JohnM. $2500 at a dollar a point and then it halves to half a point per dollar.
If you have $5000 to pay just split the bill over 2 statement dates to really rub it in to get your full points.

Thanks, cove. I was actually splitting over a couple of cards and doing it all at the same time. I thought WOW was still good 1pt/$ up to $2.5K, but just wanted to be sure that I hadn't missed an 'enhancement'.

HSBC has a 25% point bonus up to a maximum of 10,000 bonus points. Applys to spend for the next 2 months. Makes this good value for those who haven't been capped yet. 1.25pts per dollar for 0.42% makes me a happy camper!

No one mentioned the new range of credit card payments is now $10 to $20,000,000 a time.
I may need to get some bigger credit card credit limits to keep up. Not sure when the $50,000 limit was removed seeing I tend to visit the ATO payment site for about a week a month.

The drop in $50K limit must have just happened as had been making payments this week finishing Thursday without any issues.

My bad - $20m limits - must be someone paying BHP's ATO by CC. :)
