ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Yes I was told they are out on FEB 1st. Never used them as Mrscove uses that card for personal stuff.
WOWcc is run by Macquarie so that one is still running at mostly half pace.

I was about to cancel HSBC but thought I would use their online chat to ask (no harm if its confirmed they were denying ato); interesting response though.

Ok shifty you can be the official tester. It probably will work based on your chat. It doesn't affect me as I cannot prise that card out of Mrscove's hands.

I had help this month with a family member getting 125,000 miles by paying some ATO for me. I think I used every reasonable card (some more than once or twice) except for that elusive HSBC card. I enjoyed the removal of the old $50,000 top limit so that was a time saver. All done now without using the US cards. I finished early as we will be travelling a bit.

I see the new top limit $20,000,000!!!

That would be helpful if Amex Ultimate and Citibank were still ok for ATO but half a point or zero is not a thrilling earn rate.
I have another card at 6 figures limit that still works and a number over 50,000 so this was a good enhancement.

I just got off the phone with Jetstar Mastercard support, who said that payments to the ATO are eligible for frequent flyer points, and that ATO payments could be used as the eligible spend for the bonus rewards on signup of the Platinum Mastercard.

I've noticed numerous comments on this thread saying that Jetstar Mastercard was no longer valid for rewards on ATO payments? Has anybody tried it recently and can confirm? Thanks

Probably best not to tip them off by calling. There will be other members in AFF with experience. That bank might just be the last that pays for this merchant. I have the Macquarie Black but don't collect QFF yet so can't confirm it's still working.

I chose to put the superfund ATO payment by a bank payment as it could have put us over our maximum contribution limits.

Welcome to AFF. My payment from yesterday is still pending, but I do expect it to post points. PLEASE, never call a bank to ask about ATO. We will be more helpful and won't it cause the golden goose to be throttled quicker!

Be mindful that the card does have a 100k pa points cap.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing if your points come through.

Would anyone know if this is processed as a fully online transaction, or is it processed offline (in the back room)? Makes a huge difference for me given my set of credit cards is a little bit different from most others here.

I work the payments with a computer and an Ipad and the payments go through and deduct from my bank credit card balance virtually instantaneously.

I note the Commbank Platinum Business Awards cards (you get a paired Amex and a Mastercard) will continue to earn QF FFPs for ATO spend even after the change to the conditions introduced last November. The terms and conditions specifically confirm this.

If you opt to have your points converted to QF then you get 1.5 FFPs per $1 on the Amex and 0.5 FFPs per 1$ on the MCard. The main drawback is that your points earn is capped at 150,000 FFPs per year.

I was using my Cth Diamond cards to pay tax but I am thinking I will now apply for a Plat Business card in addition and use it exclusively for ATO spend.

Stephen65 you might try for BW World.
I showed the office accountant my 3 sheets of ATO payments and she said she couldn't figure out how I could keep track of the multiple cards used. I explained it was just a game I play after work.

Stephen65 you might try for BW World.

I've never had anything to do with BW and this seems to be an invitation only card.

Has anyone had any luck getting it just cold-calling them and then providing impressive financials?

Apparently minimum credit limit for the BW World is $10k or so. I walked to a branch and applied for their Plat CC. I was accepted straight away with a credit limit of well over $10k. When I get a chance (or have the incentive) I might call them up and ask for upgrade to the World card; I am not sure if it will be accepted but it'll be worth a shot I think.
