ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Now come on Cove. It is more points afterall. :) They are just trying to help you fly back and forth to the UK.

We are booked for Mrscove's birthday so we are enjoying the ATO thread results. We get back to Perth in a few days time from this trip.

Just received an email from Macquarie Black. Effective 11 May, 2016 no QFF points on:
* Government charges including any fines (assuming might include our old friend land tax);
* ATO
* BPay
* Gambling

There's also a monthly cap of $4000 before point earn is halved.

Looks like another one bites the dust. Now to get my credit limit increased on my Citi US card.

Hey All,

I have browsed this page and note it is primarily for ATO payments.
I am wondering if a Westpac Earth Black will earn me Qantas points for Victoria State Revenue Office Payments and various Victorian Council rate payments. I can't work out if it is at the reduced rate or full earn rate.
Any thoughts?

Does anyone know if this applies to the Jetstar Plat MC seeing that it's backed by Macq? Am applying today for the card as it's offering a 40k points sign-on (expires 31/5/2016), which is worth it nonetheless.

I have jetstar and haven't been notified yet. It will be cut eventually.

Ibhayi I think you would do a lot better with QCUcc or Citibank Signature or Prestige for those non ATO bills. This may change but I believe it to be correct as at 31/03.

Now I checked with a family member to see what he thought of State Taxes that are being proposed. When he calmed down I realised it could mean our family could have more documents to file/pay. Currently we do a little over 50 payments on documents a year.
I thought it was going to get simpler and fairer like with airlines frequent flyer schemes......
OK then I open the mail....
You will be reclassified as a "large" withholder for PAYG and you can now pay it weekly from July 1st 2016. Oh great 26 payments instead of 12.
I think they want the funds sent by EFT....what are they smoking down there in Albury?

Interesting....is paying weekly a suggestion or notice that you must pay weekly?

It sounds like you just get an extra option, although I'm sure that's because they deem it too much of a risk to not receive any payments for an entire month. Not sure if it's worth their trouble either, given the additional activities and reconciliation they will need to perform.

Just fixed my jetlag entry from 52 to 26 as we pay fortnightly, so one week after each pay period for those who have a $million or more of Pay As You Go employees taxes .

I will try calling them to find out if it really is NO for credit cards on this new PAYG system above a million dollars for the 2016-2017 year.

Who knows who you will get on the 'phone and if they know as much as you?

I'd just try a small payment to see what happens.

This "new" system kicks in for our business on July1st so I thought it could be appropriate to call them tomorrow morning.

Received advice that the PAYG in the large category can be paid by CC. Now that is a little bit of a relief. The over a million of PAYG is not negotiable so 26 payments by CC a year for this and 12 BAS instalments payable monthly.
That creates more paperwork which is unfortunate.

Apologies if this has been asked before - I did a quick search. Does Macquarie Visa Platinum give you points? Thanks

Yes but only until May. Prob best not to apply for it if that's the only reason for applying.
Time to wait for everyone's changes to be announced before making any new applications.

Thank you daft009 for keeping the country running for some micro seconds. I did the same.

Your not the only one proudly punching out his chest
