ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Overkill works when we have CCs falling off the ATO perch I think.
Perhaps I'm still the old fashioned one who destroy cards by folding them multiple times at the same place and then rip it up at the soft spot.
Having said that, I came across a card made of duralumin. Wonder how this would go against the 3M titanium.

I never rip my cards up until they have expired as i travel a lot and many asian airlines want to see the credit card you used to purchase the ticket

Good thinking tania73. I would never have used WOWcc to book a trip when I have cards that pay bonuses on QF and Virgin.

I think I've just "shot myself in the foot" as I look at my tax returns my accountant has just forwarded to me.

Taking up a couple of these various card offers prior to 30 June last year, I paid forward a lot of accounts (including ATO) to get the bonus points spend done. This had the effect of depressing my taxable income 2014-2015 down to "Centrelink" levels. Now when I come to applying for cards, they'll want my tax assessment notice and it will say ~$23,000 - below that threshold for most premium cards (not to mention how do I ask for a $20,000 credit limit on that "income"?). 2015-2016 will be very much better, but until that tax assessment arrives in 6-9 months' time, I'll have to moderate my CC offer take-up.

I think Mrs C is going to be applying for a few new cards this year - her income is very much healthier than mine.

coriander your +1 will be a keeper. Mrscove has roared past me in Qantas points and she barely pays any attention to those pesky ATO payments.
It is unhealthy to go sub 65k to 75k for the best credit cards. See if your accountant can adjust something........

Also, I read a tip about keeping some defunct cards in the everyday wallet for destinations where there are muggers that you may be able to fob off.

That could be a good idea but when that happened to a family member he was drugged and they were able to use multiple cards while he was stupified.

Gotta love that particular tip! How about a Visa debit card where you only have a couple of dollars in it, not sure most muggers would be able to work out it was a debit card in that scenario.

I still have a SMSF tax bill to pay by 28th April. We are maxed out on all types of SMSF contributions so I think I will have to EFT it. Now that is a real shame but it is about 1% of the total so I am feeling 99% ok. Going over the maximum contribution levels can bring a serious surprise.

Just checked my ANZ Black Frequent Flyer Statement: only additional information is regarding Card Security and chargebacks. Your card appears to be ANZ Black Rewards which may have different Ts and Cs.

Just did $10 payment to ATO , will see what happen in the next 2-3 days.

I think in the past 6 months there was 3 promotions anz black cc.

first promotion sometime last year, visa 2p , amex 3p ( this visa has been reduced 1.25p - no more ato from 14 march )

second promotion early this year, visa 2p , amex 3p ( so far no points reduce ) - which I have now.

current promotion already has reduced visa 1.25p

Most months I remember to stick $5000 on this WOW card as it produces 3750 points each month. The first $2500 gets the full one for one and the next $2500 gets the 1250 so that is 3750 points which are pretty cheap. I do it because I have the card already. The end is near!

Just ring them and tell them you want to cancel...
"Just hold a minute Sir and I will transfer you to our retention team etc......Sir you have been such a loyal customer and we will waive the fee etc"
I have done that to 2 cards and both have said the same
My next is the ANZ Qantas card, if they say no then they get the flick
