ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Do you have a relative you trust who has a card that works better FIFOSuit? I give some ATO to two others in my family.
The cards you mention are close to useless for ATO and NAB is actually totally useless. Making points at 2.9 cents is futile.

If you need to may just a few weeks late that's ok assuming the points are worth the relatively small interest penalty.
I paid off my ATO bill a few weeks late as I was waiting for my new Qudos credit card!!!

I second what cove says. I pay a few bills on my cards for others and then they do a bank transfer. Could you give the bills to someone in the fam who could pay on a card that has a good earn rate, Bankwest World M/C is one that up till COB tomorrow is paying 1 QF per $1. (Hopefully cove will correct me if I am out of date on BW and your type of bills and maybe add some some suggestions). Then, a family transfer of points back to you.

Edit: after cob tomorrow, BW World pays .66 points per $1.

Hi all,
I have just received two years worth of tax, hecs, and GST bills, for which I have the cash but wondering if I should be paying with a CC. I have Velocity Amex Platinum and NAB Velocity Amex/Visa Platinum. I don't think the NAB card pays on ATO bills, and I believe the Amex card pays 0.5 pts / $. Total to pay in the next month or so is 60K.

Question: Can I pay the total via CC over a period of time in 10K blocks? Or is it still 10K per tax payer per year? Is it worth putting it on the Amex Platinum or just pay it from my visa debit?

Any help greatly appreciated. I'm not in a position to apply for another card at this point.

cove, vicsta, get me outta here - thank you for confirming what I thought. Unfortunately I probably have the best credit out of those I know, so I'll just pay "cash" on my visa debit. I'll learn my lesson for next year!

The AMEX David Jones card pays out 1 point per dollar at the ATO according to the AFF tutorial.

I have really hammered World and Platinum from BW this month and more leisurely with a card from Q. I left Citi US and WBC Plat Kris Flyer Amex in their respective wallets. I have paid some future taxes as I just cannot resist beating "enhancements".

Am not totally across this card but seem to remember a DJ MR point is only half the value. Or does the tutorial refer to a QF version

Andye there is most likely a catch! it sounded too good don't you think ?

The DJ Amex points transfer to QF at 0.75; thus effectively 0.75 points per $.

Mrscove received a gushing email from Citi US increasing her credit limit again and saying she is one of their best customers. Wow auto pay is really helping get her credit rating up and up. I had poked some ATO on the card in April and it took this long for the payment to fall due.

BankWest at 0.63c / pt is still ok value so I will probably just stick with that for the time being, I've been put off Qudos by the sound of how hard the application is :)

Has anyone used the Jetstar Platinum MC recently?

Yep, as of last week pays ATO at 1:1 (but I've been reminded of a 100k points cap per year).
(repeating what scr77 just said - didn't see it when I posted).
