ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks cove, will revert to BW/W.

OK, here we go ... name change from GE Money to Latitude Financial Services,

The only info I can find for the Coles M/C is Wesfarmers and Latitude, plus some mob called Hallmark General.

Watch out.
If BW/W means Bankwest World, they've just downgraded it. I think you get 2/3 points per dollar. Not great anymore

Yes thanks, understand that. It's about $0.75 or $0.66 - I forget which for the World Card. Better than a poke in the eye. Just paid it and the cc cost was very small. So, if I get something that will be fine.

0.66 QF points for Bankwest World is still ok as the fee is 0.42% less a potential tax deduction of between zero and 49%.
I did prepay a chunk before June 20 because I could so I have warm feelings towards this bank.
Someone in the office thought prepaying was ridiculous but we are now sitting pretty with the results.

Is anyone using the Westpac Black Amex? 1.45% for 1.5 Altitude or .75 KF
Not a great option, but contemplating as it's all I've got left

Yes Kilo if I am desperate I have been known to use this card. I have many Kris miles warehoused in there as they do not expire but the earn rate is lousy. I will be using these miles after those we have already off our Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Amex (1.25 Kris miles off that 1.45% cost).

What is the deal on St George Amplify which is a business name I guess for Westpac. Is it their Amex or Visa/MasterCard that you are impressed with and what are the earn rates (net)?

I cancelled mine earlier this year when the annual fee was due. It's a visa and paid 0.75ppd for everything and uncapped. On your birthday you got 10% points bonus for all spend made over the last 12 months. Ie 0.825 points per dollar.

Bank of Melb is also a brand of Westpac and this is their link. https://www.bankofmelbourne.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/amplify-signature

I put a test of $10 on the Coles Mastercard. The card charged 04 cents and it came up as a 'purchase'. I wonder if I will get any flybuys for it.

Did a tester this week FB came thru. Not sure want to start collecting a new currency but pickings are getting slim. 0.8 EY/$ for 0.42% not bad.

Paid some small amounts last month on Westpac black MasterCard and zero points for ATO
Am I missing something?
Do points only work for the Amex on this account?

Yes infiniti I handed back Westpac Earth as it had lost its value for our family as well. With Westpac Black Altitude Amex it really is a last resort based on the net earn rate and the Black MasterCard got zeroed. I have to keep the Altitude Black because of the warehoused points that don't expire.
I think we have about 7 years of Kris Flyer miles this way by having two warehouses plus the two direct Kris accounts that have the 3 year expiry. There are modest extension opportunities so you can fly for about 4.5 years if you need to delay.
Today we have two in SQ Suites.

Westpac Black Altitude Amex produces a net 0.75 points. The real cost of a point is about 1.93 cents less any tax deduction so it is up there at the higher pain barrier if you cannot get a tax deduction. So the points are earned more slowly and more expensively.

Good comments Cove.

Yes I have a big stash in Westpac Altitude ( will be sending them to SQ in future as VA have just trashed F on EY with their new additional payments post 8/6/16), too.

So with a big VA balance not sure where to use these for F in future??

I'm just building QF again as have placed many many F flights with them this year. So Cudos here I come but I expect the joy there will be short lived with Inetrchange fees changing by the RBA

Will be in suites to CDG on 5/7/16 so enjoy your flight in R

Thought I would be able to control my points habit.
Took only one monthly PAYG payment this week to get back on the saddle with a Qudos application made by the better half. Surprised how relatively easy it was with info required ending at family trust stage. No info required for either me or main income source.
With both daughters in process of living OS indefintely in Toronto and Tauranga, FF travel is going to take a pounding.

I've got a 5k tax bill coming up, and I'd like Kris flyer points. What's the best free card for it?

I currently have a citi platinum visa which gets $1=1.25pt=0.5KF

Citi will give you zero points for ATO. Don't use that card as they stopped points for ATO more than 2 years ago.
