ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

so i did a payment and yep.. got 1ppd and a bonus 1ppd
and "this transaction is not eligible for cashback with points"

Since ferni started I'd been using him. Post deval I hadn't used any payment processor.
Previous to ferni I used to used RP with AMEX and it was always 100% and never a transaction rejected.

might stick to payment processors for non-ATO I think
Just checked Amex online this morning - some charges from B2BPay and BC posted and double points have come through for both. I ended up paying the Child Support through B2BPay - they've since told me they will reverse it but ATO apparently is ok - I will do ATO in the next little bit but might do that with BC for the lower Merchant fee.

Don't do ATO with BC IMO. You'll get 1+1ppd. Not worth it IMO

Thanks for the head up. Prepared to pay the extra merchant fee with B2BPay then vs getting 60% less points. Not sure why BC are that way. Would've thought they'd want to compete with other processors. Everyone is putting up the Budgeting and Business Payments façade. They just need to provide a reliable payments facilitation service - Amex earns higher fees than those off government direct payments and we earn full fees as a result - it's not rocket science IMO.

End of year taxes and quarterlies are on my desk. I was heartened by our superfund being due for a refund of franking credits.
Some other refunds too but still some chunks to pay. I plan to put those on a trusty credit card that holds onto the points.

I have some more to pay that is due on 26 th May. Today I did some chunky ones to get them off my desk. Dragon remains our family favourite credit card.

The ATO site today wants 16 digits in the EFT or PRN and mine are 15 digits. Will get an update from our accountant on Monday.
i wish it was a 12 month deferment but the ATO doesn’t do that.....

Does any one know why a State Govt body such as Qld Transport or Qld OSR charge 0.52% for all MC & Visa CC transactions yet the ATO's fees are so high?

I agree they’d be putting through a lot more volume than state government bodies. NSW charges 0.4% for MC/Visa. Suspect that the difference is Optus’ fee for providing the service as it’s ‘Optus smart pay’.

So over 800,000 small businesses have an arrangement with the ATO and that number is growing. I guess that means these small businesses are behind with their tax obligations.

I think I will write to them asking for justification of their high charges when everyone else's seems to be reasonable.

Can anyone confirm if YakPay will generate normal points for ATO spend (ANZ FF)? Would you recommend this as most simple process, if not, which? I see EBP is currently not taking sign ups.

Feel free to message if easier. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if EBP realise the scree ups when they changed the rules (fee change, can't spend on yourself), login "account" options, app, and losing many flyers ;) ?

Yakpay is easy to use although I can't comment on points vale for ATO spend.

Re EBP - I haven't used it for ages - did they change the 'cant' spend on yourself' rules?
