ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

With SQ coming back to more normal schedules we think our stash of Amplify points from ATO may be of value. It may still be a winner despite ATO being stopped by St George.
This past weekend 2 family members booked business class to CDG using AA miles for a 3 day trip.
My youngest son is flying SQ Suites in April out of Singapore with his partner for London.

thanks for the tip with Beemit. Used it with the Dragon and had no problems.

Only issue is $2000 limited with Beemit, does anyone know if this can be increased?

Also need to confirm points for the transactions and not treated as a cash advance. will provide update in a few days.

No limit increase possible.
Not possible to increase the 10k/month either

I'm giving Beem It a try, thanks to the mentions here. Worked fine the first 2 days @ $2,000 but today I'm getting an "internal server error" on several attempts as reported by @ramamba last month. Is this a regular thing? Does it not like the same payment repeated on consecutive days or...?

i got the same error for another biller yesterday and a 1off payment
support suggested to uninstall/reinstall the app

by that time I'd already paid using another method so didnt try again

I have a Fee-help debt that I will be making a voluntary payment on this month and a qantas Amex card. what Is the best way to use my card to make the payment. i saw some references to paying hecs but the comments were several years old.

I don’t have any direct experience in this area. If there’s a BPay option, then Sniip looks like it will be the simplest way to do it with Amex and get points at 1.5% if that works for your points valuation. There may be other methods with Gift Cards from supermarkets tho they’re likely to be more labour intensive and not cost free. YMMV.

I raised a support ticket with them back then, and they traced it back to my card issuer (anz). Took some time but it was eventually resolved.

Anyone using pay.com.au? They are advertising 1st month free but I wonder if that includes the credit card fees?

They claim to have the lowest rates.

I did, but a little less now. When I joined, the free promotion was a free Premium subscription (usually $165/month) - you still needed to pay the credit card fees. I currently prefer using Yak Pay, as I don't spend enough to justify the paid pay.com.au plans. Comparing the free plan level, YP has lower (or equal) credit card fees, plus the ability to earn QBR or Velocity points.

Gee @drron we will need a slew of new taxes to get you back. We might succeed with this after the votes get counted next Saturday.
We could of course jump GST from 10% to 20% to bail out some States.

The only card I have that pays reasonable points on ATO gets us Qantas points and right now those points are so devalued I have not been bothering. I look for business class flights and the redemption points are ridiculous.

Chuckle - how quickly the West forgets. :)
When I lived and worked in WA in the 80's, I saw at least 2 boom and bust cycles, as everything was based around gold, not iron ore so much. The rest of Australia helped out WA then to get through then. But I agree, things will have to change.

Hello ATO brain people
I have zero experience in squeezing points from the ATO. Are there ways to get qantas or virgin points for less than 0.5% fee those days? That would be for a personal taxe bill (not business).
