ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Ok I’ve been paying my ATO bills by bpay to avoid fees but looks like in my absence there are some new players I can look into. Happy for some one to pm me beem and snip I do have googled but still a few questions

I have just paid an enormous tax bill with Sniip (using my Amex card) and found it very simple. The app is easy to use and to set up your account. Paying with Amex via Sniip does incur fees (1.5%) but it meant I was able to accrue Amex points.
I crunched the numbers and for me the fee was worthwhile.

Also note the 1.5% is inclusive of GST so 1/11th of that fee for many can be an input tax credit.

If that applies to a payment of say, a $10k ATO bill, 9.0909% of the $150 GST inclusive Sniip fee (a credit of ~$13.50) could be claimed.

The website T&C’s have the Australian registered office as 5 Marseille Court Bundall QLD which google says is a house

I don’t think I’ll be the Guinea Pig on this one.
Fair enough but they are a Singaporean company so doubt they have an actual office here. They are registered with MAS in Singapore (equivalent to ASIC here) and have an office address there, and have plenty of info online. Operating for over 5 years and on crunchbase. They seem legit to me.

Ill probably give them a shot once I finish my tax but that's at least a month away. Hence i posted here to see if anyone has used.

I just need to find a service that accepts prepaid cards and doesn't require an abn. last time i tried they didnt work with sniip or beemit.

Hey there, a bit off topic, but seems like beem it experts read this thread, so question:

Is there a risk, using beem it for bpay (not necessary with ATO), that the credit card provider (not necessary the green dragon) consider it a cash advance? I know that for some bpay payment, that can be the case, wondering if having beem it as the intermediate, that prevents the transaction to be considered a advance.

Also interested, I'm a bit dim about paying bpay via CC. Also can you use any card or only those branded certain issuers?

IME it’s treated as a purchase for the cards I’ve used it for. You’re using Beem as a payment platform which happens to transmit money via BPay. There are other platforms which also accept Amex though for a fee and do the same like CreditRewards.

I agree if you’re doing a BPay on your card issuer’s internet banking function, they may treat it differently like perhaps treating it as a cash advance or not awarding points.

YMMV.
