ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Run this one past me again.
Gesicht maintains that a person can transfer money from a credit card onto Revolut and this won't be charged as a cash advance? Can someone else confirm this before I jump, please?
Happy to pay the 0.76
I'm about to do another transfer - ill SS once points come in :)

I imagine a few people will be jumping on this to clear out study debts before the 7.1% indexation on 1 June. Assuming we don’t see any coles gift cards on sale next week, are there any indications that beaming money over to canberra isn’t still operational?

Wait, HECS debts going up to 7.1% indexation? Wow, need to get on this...

Yeah, it's a big jump from past years! I've seen a number of articles suggesting possible strategies; YMMV of course, everyone has a different opportunity cost of cash.
YMMV, everyone will have a different threshold too...

Appreciate the analysis and suggestions.

I don’t fly a lot anymore and when I do, it’s normally been with QF which you can’t transfer the points to. I’ve used them for hotel stays in the past so that could be an option. To be honest I’m just accumulating QFF and MR points with no real plans for them. The last time I used a stack of both was 10yrs ago on a trip to Japan for 3wks flying J and staying in SPG and Hyatt hotels.

I have no experience with payment processors but found this Point Hacks article:

Sniip does seem to be at the lower end charging 2.189% all up. I’ve yet to assess how legitimate these sort of businesses are as the last thing I’d want to do is use them and find the payment just disappears into thin air.

According to Pointshack 1 MR pt = 1.2c. Does this sound reasonable?

This tax bill is as a result of selling an investment property so I’ll have to check with the accountant as it may be fine to claim the fee as a deduction.
Hi there!

I can totally understand your security concerns after the Optus and Medibank security breaches - processing a lot of money through any platform can make you hold your breath.

Sniip is an Australian-based regulated Bill Payment Service Provider, and is a member of BPAY, meaning we have had to undertake significant compliance assessments in order to provide our service.

Sniip has achieved full Tier 1 PCI DSS compliance — the same standard that Australian banks comply with. We have never had a security breach in 8+ years of operations and have quarterly vulnerability scans to try and penetrate our systems. We take the safety of our users very seriously and hope this information helps to answer your question!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looking for suggestions on the new bonus offer from B2bPay. They are offering 1 Qantas point per $1 and also a bonus of 10K points if you join through a referral. I have to pay around 24K as BAS payments and looking to maximize the points earned.
Need someone to refer my email as well so that I can get the referral points.

Hi AFF, apologies for a bit of a newbie question, I just got a NAB Qanta Rewards Premium card to hopefully take advantage of the hecs debt I have to pay to earn some FF points. I met the min spend via beem as some suggested here but I received my statement today and didn’t received the promo bonus points, just the $1.50 for 1 points.
Is this something that takes time to show up on my statement or should I just assume NAB has caught on and my Beem payments did not count? Thanks!

How long ago did you make the payment? It may be still pending. Also don't expect to get the bonus points for some time, but the fact you were only awarded points on one transaction either suggests that the transaction hasn't yet posted or may not be eligible for points earn (in which case I would be checking it for min spend eligibility)

Hi Miss Sniip

Yes I can verify that all payments have gone through without a hitch on your site. So you are very much legit.
However, you are pricing yourselves out of the market at 2.19%, IMHO.
i have just reactivated YakPay for my next BAS and find it to be a much better value proposition.

Thanks for the reply! I made the payment a little over a week ago. I can see it’s been received on the ato side and it does show up in my statement. The $1.5 for 1 points does seem to include the transactions I made via Beem, I’ve just not received the 70000 promo points. I am aware that the eligibility criteria specifies “everyday spend” and thought beem was a way to get around it :( In that case, would the next best course of action be trying one of the other platforms that might have a better chance success such as sniip?

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you meant you didn't get points for the Beem transaction, but you did for another.

In this case you just need to wait to be awarded the points. It differs by card provider but is generally within the next 1-3 statement periods.

My understanding is if you got the $1.5 for 1 points, that means those purchases are "everyday spend" and count towards the bonus points requirements. I don't see any reason you wouldn't get the bonus points in the next few statements like 33kft said.

For reference I have the NAB Qantas Signature, spent $3k in first month and got the bonus points in the first statement in 2021. Perhaps they are slower now to issue it.

I may be on Beem’s naughty list. My transactions started to give “something went wrong” yesterday, after a heavy workout. Anyone else having issues?

I've encountered that error with few recent transactions, not sure if it's naughty list

On that note, are there any current known enforced beeming to CBR limits, daily or monthly?

Hi @AFF Editor,

I am willing to join B2BPay to pay my ATO bills and found that if I join through a referral, I can earn a bonus of 10K Qantas points. The person who will refer me will also earn Qantas points for referring me.

I am looking for someone having an existing account with B2BPay and can refer my email so that I can join it.

Thanks

Had this issue after bank blocked my card. Unblocked the card but the error didn't go away. Messaged BeemIt support, they suggested to force close the app. After doing that, the payment went through. Not sure if that actually helped or it was just because of a one day wait before trying again.

The issue has resolved itself thankfully. Took about 36hrs.
