ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

What is wrong with Citi PayAll for these payments ??
Reduced points per dollar i.e. 0.4 Kris and 0.5 Velocity but no fees.
I only discovered PayAll last week and wonder what the consensus is?

Is this only fee free until the end of October? Or is it fee free to those that set it up before the end of October?

Looks like fee free for recurring payments setup up until 31 Oct 2023, for up to 24 months:

Is there a fee for using Citi PayAll?

For all Citi PayAll payments set up between 1 April 2021 to 31 October 2023 (the Period), the Citi PayAll fee will be reduced to 0%.*

*Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up during the Period will not incur the Citi PayAll fee for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur. Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

Can I schedule a payment?

Yes. When setting up your payment simply select the specific date of transfer as long as it is at least 7 business days away. For rent, education expenses and property management fees and miscellaneous, you also have the option to make this a weekly, fortnightly or monthly regular payments for the next 24 months.

EDIT: Having some buyers' remorse. I usually do much smaller tester payments first on new payment services. Just checking the $$ has got through to the ATO for some of the posters on this thread who have used it?

Hi Guys,

Sorry to labour the point. Just looking to hear from others who have used this payment service to pay their ATO bill and the funds turned up safely as expected. How long did it take?

Someone in this thread (or another) reported success. ATO might take 4 business days to reflect the funds, plus any ipaymy delay. Finger cross your wait won't be too long.

albyd. I have used the ipaymy service and my funds have reached the ATO safely. It took a couple of days. And my points have reached me. I'm happy with the service and intend using it again.

I'd get in touch with tech support - may be an issue with the security protocol it uses - like my Westpac MasterCard. My Citi MasterCard went through without any issues.

Payment via ipaymy worked for me. Not sure if you need to agree to terms and conditions before applying promo code.

So what is the latest meta here with large ATO payments... Yak pay is the best I can see with a QFF point value of about 1.2 cents PP after corporate tax deduction and including their rewards program of 1 QFF per $10 when paying with my Qantas Business Amex.

Very happy with YakPay. Using Mastercard as the sweet spot I see an airline mile cost of 1.9c. I don't use Amex as it is something like 2.5c per airline mile.

Very nice, I'm keen to start!

Maybe you can double check my maths for me here because those seem a little high to me per point, so I may be wrong?... If I was to make a payment of $50k with YP with my QFFAmex @ 1.25 QFF/$:

=Fee/Points
=(AMEX Fee * Amt) / (CCEarn * Amt + Amt/YAKRewards)
=(0.021*50000)/(1.25*50000+50000/10)
=0.0155 excl. GST

Plus the additional tax savings assuming a 25% corp. rate:
=0.0116 excl. GST

I have some MC calcs here with referral link.

Or, using sister site Payment Logic which is a bit cheaper for AMEX (My referral code is CD49)
PL with Amex Plat edge
Earn Rate is 1:1 pts
Conversion to Airline Miles is 2:1
PL rate is 1.3%
$50k x 1.3% = $650 fee
Points 1:1 = $50,650 x 1.0 = 50,650 pts
Conversion Airline Miles 2:1 = 25,325 miles
Cost: $650 / 25,325 = 2.56c/mile
