ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

If sniip can do ATO at 1.5% only with Amex is a better option than YP with Visa at 1%

Actually the same ( almost ).
AMEX 1.25 pt per dollar at a cost of 1.5 % ( forgetting about the GST = .833 pt per dollar
VISA .825 points per dollar at a cost of 1 % ( forgetting GST )

.825 to .833 = line ball and if you want points and happy to pay use AMEX but I thought they were 3 % ??

Hmm I haven't tried sniip yet for ATO
Paid my last dues before the Dragon die

Edit: thanks for the maths. Will save me time 😁

I can't recall if it's stated upthread that you're looking at QF related cards, in which case, above would probably be correct (depending on QF AMEX card), but if we were talking say AMEX Plat vs Dragon, then AMEX pts are more valuable, in general, due to the range of transfer partners, so if it's line-ball, or even if AMEX is a bit more expensive, I'd stick with sniip over YP.

just about to pay ATO now.
SNIIP is indeed charging 1.5%, however this includes GST! so 1.3636% ex GST vs YP at 1%
pretty much coming to the same cost/pt for me (0.012 YP vs 0.01196 SNIIP)

here are the calculations...

that's how I saw it too - line-ball with an AMEX Plat, so sniip made more sense than YP, given the greatest versatility of AMEX points

What is the consensus of people using SNIIP.
As I see it from the figures above from DAFT009 if one is simply chasing points and happy to pay the fee then SNIIP and AMEX is better than YAK PAY and VISA ?
Am I wrong

I think that's spot-on re SNIIP / AMEX if you're not solely chasing QF points (I haven't done calculation for latter, as I don't chase QF points!) and as a business expense, it's hard to go past that cost for AMEX points

Had a look at their site but could not see anything on fees etc ?
fees are listed here, Product Disclosure Statement - Sniip

yes, difference is bugger all between the two.
as @Bell21 said, comes down to whats more important to you.
my calculations are based on using SNIIP with platinum charge which can transfer to a large range of partners

EDIT: SNIIP/ATO came in overnight at the full 2.25ppd with the platinum :D

I might have missed it but where does it show/say this includes gst? I have emailed myself a receipt after I made a payment using the sniip app but there’s no mention of gst(or for the purposes of a tax invoice, an ABN either). I can’t see any mention of it on their website or faq either.

it’s a big bonus if it does, because obviously businesses can claim back the gst but I can’t see any documentation that states this

check my post above yours, link to the PDS which mentions it

Thanks found it in the PDS. Bit worrying that there’s a total of one mention of GST on their entire web presence. I believe that technically, according to the ato, in order to claim the gst credit, we will need a proper tax invoice issued by them which includes the ABN and either the exact gst amount or a statement specifying that it includes gst.
