Auckland QF J lounge is disgustingly filthy, worn out, and with s*^t food. Get it remodelled now Qantas!

The general decor of the AKL lounge reminds me of what I'd get at a cheap motel. I'd always make a beeline for the EK lounge where available.

The Auckland lounge is indeed in dire need of refurbishment. The food is pretty poor and the decor is rather dated, although I found the staff there are friendly. Thankfully, it is earmarked for an upgrade in the near future.

I have a soft spot though for the Auckland lounge because it reminds me of what Qantas lounges used to look like when I travelled with my family as a small child.

Same here. The late 80s / early 90s decor is nostalgic for me as it reminds me of the old LHR T3 lounge: the first QF lounge I visited for also my first QF flight. Now I'm approaching my 650th QF flight but can still remember that lounge. You had to ring the doorbell to get in!

I have a soft spot it as well, it was the first lounge I ever went into, in 97 when the desk wasn't even manned all the time. +1 loved it and hasn't looked back

If parents think its OK to change nappies/diapers on the SYD QFi F lounge floor, what do you "think" that stain is?
Cloth seats on planes also must hide a lot of "ahem" stuff.
At least if leather seats, we can see what marks the "special" spot, but if its like most aircraft, with cloth or velour seats, ... ... ...
Ok, leave it at that.

And they expect travellers to adhere to a dress code then present manky seats like that.

Good point - I certainly wouldn't want to sit on a filthy chair like that when I'm wearing a suit or any other form of good clothing!

Just two photos (of the same thing) and no further detail does not align with your thread title. If the pictures are to "do the talking", they have very little say.
They are NOT the same two chairs!! Look closely. Every chair in there is the same level of filth, I just took two photos as that is enough to illustrate the point,

The AKL EK lounge is by far superior, in terms of service, furnishings and food and beverages.

Hope to use that lounge in May and give QF a miss
Yes, the problem is now that EK has dropped it's AKL - SYD, AKL - BNE and AKL - MEL flights the opening hours of the EK lounge are extremely limited. This is the only reason why as an EK platinum I would ever set foot in the QF lounge,

I have to agree on the food and beverage offerings...dismal ..beer warm and selection limited, food is unappealing and also limited. Staff take a long time to clear tables.

It can’t possibly be worse than MEL Intl J

I didn't say they were the same chairs; I said they were the same "thing": dirty seating. Your post title is (a) "disgustingly filthy", (b) "worn out" and (c) "s*^t food". I was making the point that a single photo of the same thing - dirty seating - does not, to me, align with your thread title.

Can we imagine...
A)Same person who did both...
B)Same slobbish couple
C)Same slobbish family
Odd that both chairs have same line of "food gravy" on it is.

I’m not exactly sure of the point you are making, nor the relevance of it. If your suggestions are correct then it’s a once off then and we know that isn’t the case.

Lady in ADL QF lounge tonight was changing her baby’s diaper on one of the sofas!
Not even a towel or blanket being used.
I honestly just don’t get people sometimes

She's just practicing for the more difficult nappy change in seat onboard the plane later

AKL J lounges are all pretty ordinary in my order of preference being VA, NZ and QF.

As I’ve said many times on other threads- the Qantas Auckland lounge offering is an absolute disgrace. Did a few months they even didn’t have any proper champagne in the so-called “First” lounge but that at least seems to be back.

I travel from AKL about 2-3 times a month at the moment and mostly on the ole top so I tweeted Qantas a few months back asking for any updates on the refurb and they sent me the dumbest reply possible:

“Dear Berlin! Watch out for exciting news on our lounge updates soon!” Haaaeh? :mad:o_O:rolleyes:

If possible, the EK lounge is way better and even the Virgin/Priority Pass lounge has better food (though also a lot of riff raff passengers, unfortunately).
