Auckland QF J lounge is disgustingly filthy, worn out, and with s*^t food. Get it remodelled now Qantas!

Food looks good!

Why were you rejected at the Emirates Lounge?

The usual, not the first time this has happened to me and others in Auckland: “We’re not taking any more Qantas customers today, we already had two gentlemen!”

That was shortly after the lounge got opened for the evening so it would have been near-empty. I know it’s totally against the written rules but what can you do if 🐲 simply doesn’t care. Same lady btw that has let me in many time before, just had a cranky day I suppose.

The QF Lounge in AKL today is struggling to cope with the A380 QF8 diversion. EK lounge wasn't accepting anyone. Thankfully for me personally, I was able to use Priority Pass to get into the next door Strata Lounge. FAR SUPERIOR to the QF Lounge.

So much about “partnership”
The explanation.l offered was that QF8 diversion is not one of the regular flights that are part of the partnership. So I guess Emirates wouldn't get paid or compensated for an influx.

Moot point as the EK lounge closed at 1:30pm. I've been here in AKL since 9:30am and won't be leaving until 8:30pm.

Can definitely see EK‘s reasoning if that is indeed the case

Still haven’t been to the QF lounge in AKL to see what all the fuss about but thought the Strata lounge was more than adequate for a few hours apart from the toilet situation. Would be so much better with more seperate toilets as the lineup was quite bad and passengers were heading back out into the airport to find a loo

I thought the lounge was actually very nice, much better than the QF lounge (the F lounge is just a cordoned off area that is the same as the J lounge for QF). I'd like to try the EK lounge next time I can.

I passed through Auckland today on QF144. First I tried to visit the Emirates lounge and while the attendant said I was welcome took 5 minutes trying to scan my pass and then said I wasn't entitled. One explanation might be I was in a premium economy ticket - maybe Emirates' system doesn't recognise it because they don't have premium economy themselves; but would be curious to know if anyone has thoughts.

I sat in the so-called first section. I did like that they had Port and a decent food option in Thai curry but the lounge was so full once I'd eaten I left and sat at the gate. Admittedly there were quite a few Rugby 7s officials in the lounge heading across to Sydney after this weekend's tournament in Hamilton.

I think the fact that this lounge has a whole section for desktop computers - all with the old Qantas logo sums up how much it's needed an overhaul but been neglected.
