Surprised so many have HBA above WLG.
  • Lounges - The lounges at WLG far far superior to HBA cupboard.
  • Routes - HBA has 1 international flight to AKL. WLG has international flights to NAN, MEL, SYD, BNE and OOL.
  • Aerobridge - HBA requires a walk to the plane, WLG you walk onto the plane via an aerobridge
  • Although both lack priority lanes for security.

For me, it was to make sure HBA appeared at the bottom of the list, as opposed to being overlooked :) (And I've never been to WLG - only ranking airports I've been to)

NTL is not a bad little airport, a rare one that you don't miss having a lounge because of the excellent views from the main bar - they even do live music in peak times. Compact size that you can park 50m from your plane and be onboard in about 5 minutes from leaving your car if you time it right.

It suffers being so close to SYD (should be bigger for the population it serves) but it's doing OK, a huge improvement from a decade ago.

Reactions: SYD
I see CBR and ADL are featuring in many responses. Both are decent models for how mid size city airports ought to be and light years ahead of the cough that was there before. Particularly CBR with the lounge choice but I guess the Pollies had a bit to do with that).

HBA - pay attention.

SYD (T2), MEL (bits) and PER (QF) still grapple with legacy infrastructure that’s well past their use by dates.

PER - really how hard is it to agree with QF to stick a VA like pier in and bulldoze the T3/4 shanty town?
