Australian Census 2021

I doubt myself or neighbours will be able to particpate if they are relying on letterbox drops, due to a huge ongoing problem with mail theft most residents do not use the letter boxes at the residence but have PO boxes instead.

There ought to be a way to register online without needing a physical booklet (what an incredible waste of paper) to be delivered to door/letter box.
You can. If you go to www.census.abs.gov.au, you can request a census number.

Friends of mine who did the census on line last time didn’t get a paper booklet delivered, just a letter. Is that others experience?

I’m happy with my paper copy and the last question in the last inside page: keep and release in 100 years 😊. My personal middle finger to the ‘privacy’ zealots as well as hopefully a help to future social researchers and family historians. (There’s more to the census than government use and politicians 😉)

Where did that interesting post about the Census form, from Tassie, go? I was just reading it and now gone?

Edit: Not to worry. It’s back. Glitch maybe.

Will do.

Just checked the letter box for first time in about 6 months, full of junk mail, no letter from ABS.

No last time a door knocker interrupted my evening, I said I intended to do online but was left with a 1 pager with a code for online access and a booklet "just in case" which ended up in the recycle bin.

If there are door knockers this year, I wont be answering as they shouldnt be wandering about as we are in lockdown.

Got my letter today, sent from Dandenong, am in Melbourne.
got mine a few days ago... also from Dandenong office - already filled it out.. and lodged as well

Or, they may run into the ADF. 🤣

Anyway, the Census Field Officers will only be attending dwellings (from about 16th August?) for form collection where the on-line form has not yet been lodged, or where the paper form has not yet been received by the ABS from Aussie Post (however long that may take?).

So, no nocturnal surprises for you. 😉

Anyway, a little courtesy note will be left under the door if no-one answers. Opening the door is not compulsory. 😀

Also, there are some dwellings that may receive a paper form, delivered by a Census Field Officer, rather than by mail, for a number of reasons

Yes I found a letter yesterday in the letterbox. No booklet. The letter has a census number and also tells you how to request a booklet if you want one.

Done in 20 mins. Few typos I think. ;) Income: "ask ATO" not an option so put 0.
