Australian Cricket Season 2020-21

Much of it irrational and unnecessary.

And some will quite rightly contend that NSW can.

If the policy settings aren’t adjusted at some point, no one’s going to be going anywhere for a long time.
The other angle to this is that India have to agree to whatever is proposed. India do NOT like the Gabba. At all. They much prefer the SCG from a cricketing perspective.

There is also the fact that Queensland reneged on a deal made regarding the ODI and T20 matches, and NSW stepped in to save the day hosting the teams at Olympic Park and 4/6 matches, the other two at Manuka Oval. Cricket Australia is perceived to “owe” the NSW government for this.

The players and other staff of both teams may not wish to enter a zone where it impacts their free movement after the test.

Although being extremely well to quite well paid professionals, they may be more inclined to do it.

Their free movement has been impacted for ages, like many others.

They may, but if the choice is that they can play in a state where no such penalty would apply, or one where it wouldn't then they may prefer the latter scenario. They will be paid the same no matter where the next 3 tests are played. What the Indian Cricket Board will find acceptable is of course another factor. They might insist on playing in Sydney, or the reverse.

NSW may make special bubble arrangements for the game and those involved with Qld so that it is not an issue in any case.

Not that he was fit, but Warner was blocked by border issues from playing in the Boxing Day test. Two SA players can't play in the Big Bash (one of them being the captain) because they played in Sydney during the Australia A match.

As per above, it isn't their choice as to what they can do next.

Touching tribute to Deano at tea on Day 1 with his wife and daughters placing his bat, sunnies and baggy green on the stumps.

He featured in my virtual Christmas Party quiz, was one of the pictures in the 'who is this (from people who died in 2020)' slide :)

How much cricket is needed on Boxing Day
A second twenty 20 game and it’s meant to have finished around midnight but it’s not likely the way the first batting team is going.

Who needs BBL? Is that what you are saying? Not me.

Dunno. I read it as 3 matches televised on one day gets a bit wearing. We did 2 but couldn’t quite face the third - Gold Coast?
I like BBL for a bit of light sporting viewing.
I didn't mind BBL before it became mainstream. Once that happened it just annoys me greatly. Hate the music bits. I realise I like watching teams where I have some knowledge of who the players are and who play for our local team. I do like Rasheed Khan for the SA team but don't like seeing SA players playing for other teams.

In general, I don’t like any sport where they have to name the teams after animals or other silly things and have loud music to gee up the ”audience”. But that’s just me!
