Again it's a stupid metric "7 day traffic" probably aligns to the Easter weekend. What was the traffic the other three weeks?

It's another example of taking one fact and trying to use it to prove something that's barely related. It seems to happen a lot on this forum.

Show me the stat for % of people not checking in but still visiting QR mandatory venues and then you've got a point. Until then it's just making things up.

Brad Hazzard urges people to remember to check in with QR codes​

NSW Health minister Brad Hazzard says QR check-ins will become mandatory for all retail venues as well as hospitality.

He said he has noticed an 'apathy' towards using QR codes to check in at venues in Sydney.

"We know QR codes have been mandatory for quite some time in areas like hospitality venues, restaurants and pubs and clubs and so on. What I want to emphasise is people need to use those QR codes.

"I have detected in my wandering to the city a degree of apathy. Some of the restaurants and cafes aren't asking people to use the QR codes, individuals are not using them. We really need to take this particular virus and the variant extremely seriously.

"We are actually now emphasising to individual shops and the large shopping centres that you must make available, youmust make available, those QR codes. We may knock on your door asking who has been in your shop. We need to have the information. NSW Health tracers need that information."

Businesses in Bondi and Coogee are among those being visited by officials following a drop in the use of QR codes.

Key points:​

• There has been a 25 per cent drop in the use of QR codes
• The COVID-safety compliance blitz runs until June 30
• Inspectors will also monitor the correct usage of food and hospitality vouchers

The compliance blitz, which kicked off on Wednesday, is in response to the state's two new COVID-19 cases and concerns over the low check-in rate at the XOPP restaurant in China Town visited by one of the infected people.

Contact tracers are still trying to locate the source of the infection.

Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the community had become complacent, providing a strong case for the blitz to take place.

"There's been a drop off of about 25 per cent in relation to the QR code check-ins over the last two or three months," Mr Dominello said.

Not exactly. Most other states would have slammed the door on NSW by now. But they haven't, because no more JobKeeper bailing them out.

I'd expect more LGAs added or something more blanket. There seems to be 1 or more cases in Narellan Vale (Camden LGA).

Not sure it's Jobkeeper. WA seems to take its lead from the amount of panic in the state that has the cases.

I would suggest the best approach to QRA check in would be marketing. Preferably in a happy, friendly way to get the population on-side.
All the "dropped something sport?" advertising from the past had a long term impact on behaviour. Fear campaigns are effective in the short term but the moment enforcement drops off, so does compliance.
Dare I say that such a campaign would be most effective run Federally, with one check in app for the country?

In SA the Police did an undercover blitz and heavily fined some hapless small businesses. Small business and servos are now constantly asking people to sign in and if they don't they are asked to leave. The local BWS shop was incredibly vigilant from the beginning back in 2020. Department stores and Supermarkets sometimes just make it hard to sign in with just a couple of QR code's at the entrance. Making for crowding issues.
