This just blew me away from today's Vic press conference.
Apparently 30% of those in quarantine have been refusing CV testing. It isn't legislated under the national emergency biosecurity laws that those in quarantine are compelled to be tested - testing must be voluntary. Sounds like a massive problem to me. Implication that some other states' figures are worse than this.

If they serve their quarantine does it matter?
Obviously disappointing but doesn’t surprise me.This just blew me away from today's Vic press conference.

Heard from a SA Health official this morning that a woman in that area went to get tested and whilst awaiting results she continued to drop her kids at school despite being told to self isolate and then interacted with other adults and kids. Her results came back positive and then rather than self isolate and also pull her kids out of the school she continued to go about her business as normal and didn’t even inform the school. Apparently she was one of those who weren’t home when officials came around to check on her isolation aswellHaven’t read anything or is it insider stuff?
That was mentioned a few posts ago. The Govt does have the power but Vic Health didn't assert it. They did in SA. Twice.“ Authorities report“ in Vic that 30% of people in hotel quarantine have refused to be tested. I’m starting to become despondent about our chances.

You are correct. The reason being that I am yet to hear of anyone actually being infectious if not showing other symptoms after a 14 day quarantine. So they may leave positive, but will not leave infectious. I will retain this opinion until someone posts a link to confirmed cases to the contrary. So I know I'll get disagreement here but if they are the type to take a while to convert from exposure to active disease, only to become positive 8-12 days after arrival, or even longer, they are going to be free to leave while still positive and infectious.
I know some (including me( have suggested problems with certain demographics in their attitude and behaviour, particularly in relation to the current hotspots in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. But as we know ratbags come in all shapes, cultures and colours. Don't mess with the Singapore government though, who've booted out several Brits, a couple of Americans and an Austrian who were working there for not complying with COVID related rules ...
6 who flouted COVID-19 laws at Robertson Quay permanently banned from working in Singapore
SINGAPORE: Six people who were caught flouting COVID-19 "circuit breaker" measures at Robertson Quay have had their work passes revoked and are permanently banned from working in Singapore, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said on Thursday (Jun 25). They were among seven people fined earlwww.channelnewsasia.com
PS. Was that 30 or 13% ? As I thought that I heard 13%.

I guess there is no point in trying to compare published active cases stats between states of AU anymore.
I can't find the article again, butearlier today read that NSW gov has changed the way they report stats yet again out of step with all other states. From memory, they will no longer count anyone in quarantine, returned travellers, cases after 30 days, and other changes. Overnight active cases stats for NSW dropped by three hundred.
Charting the COVID-19 spread: Australia passes 10,000 coronavirus deaths
Australia has officially recorded more than 10,000 COVID deaths in total, with 4,000 of those recorded in Victoria. Here's what the latest data shows.www.abc.net.au
NSW Health’s official tally of active coronavirus cases has tumbled from 330 to just six, following a series of changes to the definition of an “active case” by the state’s health authority.
The most recent change, announced on June 25, means the figure no longer includes cases acquired overseas nor cases where symptoms first appeared more than four weeks earlier — regardless of whether or not the patient has been assessed as “recovered”. Active cases dropped from 98 to six as a result.
It is the second change in two weeks to the way current or active cases are counted. On June 11, NSW Health announced it would no longer count cases where recovery information was not available after six weeks. This caused the state’s active case count to fall from about 330 to 71.
