Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Qld needs a (nother) good fright, sad reflection of human nature.
Last night at a local PAC , they repeated many times that masks were compulsory.
I counted 15 or more within a few metres of our seat who did not comply...

Amazing how much a lower count today seemed to keep the press hounds more subdued.

As long as were are seeing the numbers around a fairly flat trend line, then panic seems to ease.

Until they realise if the numbers keep going sideways what that means for the lockdown, restrictions and borders… :(

Did I hear the police commissioner correctly? Someone who knew he was positive went to work today where there were other workers on site?

For the police to arrive on site, knowing the situation, I wonder who in his circle dobbed him in.
Just to add a correction - noticing ABC blog’s quote of NSW Police Commissioner. So part of compliance check, not specific sobbing. Will edit my earlier post.

A worker knowingly went to a building site with COVID-19, NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller says

Commissioner Fuller:

"An example this morning, a COVID compliance check, young man who was COVID positive was out of the house and he had gone to work on a building site."

"That sort of behaviour is exactly why we need strong health orders, law enforcement and defence, getting the highest level of compliance."

"This guy knew he was positive. The information is, from his family, that he knew he was positive."

I just watched ABC tv news and he did not go to work.

However he had left his home and had gone to another house, where he was located.

ABC reporting

COVID cases in disability home rise

The number of coronavirus cases inside a group home for people with disabilities in western Sydney has risen to eight.

Here's National Disability Affairs reporter Nas Campanella:
The organisation that runs the home at Parklea is Unisson, and it's confirmed there are now four residents and four staff members with COVID-19.

All residents in the home received their first doses of AstraZeneca in May.

There are four townhouses in the one complex and due to the risk of cross-contamination, the Department of Health has deemed the staff and residents in the other dwellings as close contacts. That impacts 65 staff and 21 residents.

Unisson has ramped up safety measures, including putting up marques where staff can have breaks, and access to PPE.

National Cabinet seems like a whole lot of nothing again. The States are allowed to lock us up until well into 2022. Awesome. Nothing interesting happening until 80% double vaccinated. Yawn.
Lockdowns are signed off as preferred policy until 70% vaccination reached nationwide.

I'm utterly sick and tired of this garbage.

I want to know when I can visit my own family in my own family home. I want an absolutely binding agreement from all states and territories to remove all internal barriers to movement introduced in the last 18 months that they can't shirk away from.

I don't see how this is realistic. States will always have the power to close internal borders unless there's a constitutional change. That's probably unlikely given the popularity of border closures with the electorate.

Just an Australian who works in Victoria and has all family and friends in WA. The thought of resigning from my job and moving home has entered my mind more often each week. Unsure how much longer I can realistically do this mentally.

Elimination of COVID-19 is simply impossible, the so far 1221 pages of this thread is proof. Sorry we are calling our strategy suppression, now. Either way, this doesn't seem like much of a plan.

All complained that the 4 phase plan had no targets / dates.
We now have dates, even more complaining.
Some expect states to sign binding agreement or change constitutional that won't close borders every again. What world do some live in.

Oh my goodness, I'll say it again biggest whingers this country no doubt.

Many other's want their own targets, time lines, opening dates & HQ conditions.

80% is in realm of possibility by years end. If not 1st qtr 2022.
But let's complain same old lines until then.

Viral evolution has been and remains quite unpredictable ; we expect the feds to do better ( fair enough) but I have not seen
any definitive solutions on these pages.
I have seen frustration and demands ….and opine that tilting at windmills is understandable but ultimately counterproductive.

Yes, that is the division of powers under the Australian Constitution.
Are you suggesting a Constitutional amendment to abolish the States?
In 2020 you suggested the Feds take responsibility for roads to airports.

Yeah. I know. I'm a whinger. I missed my son's wedding in the UK three weeks ago. I want to go to a reenactment in June next year. I'm just a mum who wants to see the most important event in his life.

Seriously, what else is important than family. Shame on me. 😒. Never. We live in a different universe if this makes me bad.

I actually think today's plan (in particular phase C - international travel) will be achieved by June
