Does any body actually believe for one second the states are going to follow this? Do you think WA won’t slam down it’s border on whatever justification it feels like regardless of former agreements (like it does now) and conversely does anyone honestly think if NSW achieves 70 or 80% vaccination first it is going to wait and not push for (and likely get) international flights just because another state is dragging the chain?
I think that goes without saying given the language used was ‘agreement in principle’ and was repeated 1000x in the presser = people nodding saying sure whatever, then change their minds if it suits their re-election chances later… cough usual suspects WA and QLD will make it up on the run….
What will happen though which I’m pinning all my hopes on - is as we get higher and higher numbers people will care less and less about covid as they and their friends, family will be vaxxed.
People will get more and more pissed off with the state governments (the ones imposing restrictions) and there will be a massive backlash against them.
The protests we are seeing in Sydney at the
moment will be nothing… there will just be mass civil disobedience…. Even more so than in Sydney right now….
And because the premiers only care about being re-elected they will read the room and react.
It will be the tipping point. And I suspect it will come way before 70%
