Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The Sydney outbreak started from Cargo Pilots. Stop as many flights as you wish it still would have arrived. Cargo flights is not something that can be stopped.
The suggestion was made by same in another thread that all freight could come in by the SQ Darwin route, fly in fly out. Which completely ignores sea freight but hey, we can apparently do without the multiple supplies that come into ports in every Australian port every single day 🤷‍♀️

I understand the freight airlines all said they are not coming here if Darwin is the only option. Fair enough I guess.

The story is still confusing...but there was all manner of slackness around this situation. Whether you blame the driver or the NSW government, the outcome seems to have been avoidable.

There simply is not all the freight infrastructure for that to work. For example some of the freight requires cold chains (and not just Pfizer) and so you need at airport cool and freezer storage.

Plus the huge distances that the freight then would still have to travel.

The simple fact is anything is possible but costs would go through the roof if such a idea was implemented. Oh and even more delays to freight remembering that ocean going freight will still end up in the major capital city ports anyway...

Even with freight ships I don't know if there is a reason for the crew to come ashore or to have interaction with those on the dock doing the loading and unloading?

But this is where hubs in DRW, SIN and JKT with airlines like SQ, QF and GA operating the services same day could have worked. Onward air freight from Darwin to every capital city by air provided by VA and QF. high costs maybe, but compared to the costs of lockdowns and lost days work/isolation etc?

I expect that all ships require a local pilot to board and steer the ship into port. If there is an outbreak onboard then medical personnel will come into contact with ship personnel.

... Sky News is also saying that many of the offending videos are from last year. Last year the health advice was different and Fauci advised people shouldn't wear masks at one point in 2020.
I don't think he actually said this directly. It was in March 2020 when there was a shortage of PPE.

Reminds me of the thought bubble that we need to make Pfizer in Australia now, to fight off Covid. Maybe in 18 months time? Covid zero is a myth. Just get vaccinated. With whatever is available to you. And then this thread can die.

Interesting that the report on news.com(.au) this morning said that NSW will lift their lockdown earlier than expected, as soon as they reach 70% vaccinated.

So the PM's release of the 70% and 80% targets now seems unrelated to public demands for a timetable, but rather finding a way out of the lockdown for NSW.

If this is true, it is VERY lucky we have such a rock solid ‘agreement in principle’ at National Cabinet reached already and such strong leaders who don’t back flip (ever) so that when we all reach the golden targets no more lockdowns and border wars are magically over!

So it won’t matter if for example NSW has thousands of active cases and other states have a couple, it will be open up day, regardless of the spread of the virus at that point in time.

Can’t wait 😜

She’s letting it rip. Aka Boris style. PM lost power last March.

Qld: 13 new local cases.

All related in some way to Ironside State School.

Lockdown extended until Sunday.

EKKA cancelled....showbag disaster.

(Not saying I agree) Well she will be letting it rip into the whole of Australia, acting on behalf of all states because there is no way an uncontrolled outbreak of Delta could be contained to NSW, even amongst an unvaccinated 20-30% of the population.
