Victorian police investigating after Daniel Andrews filmed without face mask

Victoria Police is investigating whether Premier Daniel Andrews breached COVID-19 directions after he was filmed approaching journalists outside Parliament without a face mask.

"Victoria Police are currently assessing a video circulating on social media of Premier Daniel Andrews walking across a car park in Melbourne without a mask on, 7 October," a spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said they would not comment further as the investigation was ongoing.

All Victorians over age 12 must wear a face mask when leaving their home and must wear them in both indoor and outdoor settings, unless they have an exemption.

Politicians and journalists are exempt from wearing masks while working to respond to questions at press conferences or communicate over broadcast mediums.

People who do not wear a face mask when required and do not have a lawful exemption can be fined $200.

Fined 2x$200 for his efforts.
More from Tasmania. We have just had a physicians meeting on what to expect from December. It is official Tasmania is waiting until 90% double vaxxed before opening the borders. They are concerned about hospitals being overwhelmed but then ordered by the Covid Commander that every positive case has to be in hospital even if completely well.
Well that will ensure all those extra wards are filled!!

SA Health have done it again today. Truck driver tested negative in NSW yesterday morning drove into SA and tested again then moved further into SA and home. Test result came in this morning as positive. Had one Pfizer and asymptomatic. He and the people he lives with have been moved into a med hotel in Adelaide. How long can they keep doing this when Covid arrives.
At this rate…be easier if the negs go into the hotel and pos stay home

Maybe the answer is for David Walsh to set up an ‘art installation’ at MONA where people watch a vaccination conveyor belt. This being a cultural/vax program it can be paid by Tas gov and MONA disburses the funds to all the participants in the installation. More vax more $$ more media more pax vax and then the 2nd installation will be the gawping anti-vax types who DW will douse in paint…. it could be called ‘pax vax e machina’ 1.0

This is what we did way back in March 2019 2020. We are going forwards backwards. If vaccinated and felt well, who would get tested unless absolutely compelled? ie frog marched into a testing station.
I actually think those more vulnerable to dying suddenly from getting covid eg those marked for boosters today might want to get tested. Just for the peace of mind of minimizing the chances of a covid-induced sudden death at home.

I hate to think what the response from the good Professor and SA Health would be if we had experienced even a tenth of what NSW and Vic have experienced case load wise. Their collective heads would explode.

Yes, that makes sense but as for the rest of us, well,

And if they don't ever get to 90%, then what?

Do you have a perspective as to whether Tasmania will get there?

And putting all positive cases in hospital is a high risk situation - they'd be better off in health accommodation.

Hospitals are full of people who are vulnerable seems like an unsound idea to put people in there if it is not medically necessary.
Pretty confident that they will. They are just under 80% with the first dose and 63% fully vaccinated
They have been advertising widely.
Also have mobile vaccination clinics which have now finished going around all the secondary schools and in the next 2 weeks will be going to smaller remote towns.
Has been a jump in vaccinations in Launceston this week after a youngster returned from Melbourne positive and then violated his home quarantine going maskless. The radio ad this morning certainly was urging anyone in town that hasn't had a jab to get one urgently.

The most interesting thing is that the vulnerable in hospitals are not being managed with full PPE. Full PPE only if Covid positive or Covid status not back in time - say an emergency.

Yet there is a mandate for all health workers to be vaxxed - do you see the problem?

If I admitted every covid patient either adult or child that I’m seeing right now in a NSW ED to hospital there wouldn’t be any beds to put them into after a day or so of that policy.

The Covid Commander needs a dose of reality.

The term "commander" is actually somewhat borrowed from the AIIMS structure (Australian Inter-Service Incident Management System) which is where I think it has originated from.

As usual it is a bunch of bureaucrats giving out titles (& jobs....) without thinking. Jeroen Weimar has zero medical training. I think the term commander gives off the wrong vibes in this context.

Anyway. I predict another record day tomorrow for Melbourne and probably the next week will be high too, not that I care. Had three COVID tests this week, make it five by the time the weekend is done, would be nice to truly believe that something is going to change for our lives soon.

Instead it seems like we have sideshows in Victoria of how Daniel Andrews didn't wear a mask in a car park. For goodness sake, what an absolutely pathetic topic for the media to focus on. I don't like the guy or how his government have handled most of the pandemic but how about focusing on that, instead of trivial rubbish.

Spot on. I’ve seen plenty of it in my suburb. People who can afford to stay home indefinitely in their 4 million dollar Annandale home whining on Facebook about people “just doing the wrong thing”. Whereas they’ll then complain that their Ubereats from Sokyu has taken 45 mins. Can’t imagine too many of my neighbors are delivering Maccas in their Q7s 🙄
And arguing with the team at Cherrymoon that they don’t need to check in if they take one step back from the counter and stand on the footpath 🙄

Hmmm... I don't know... In my professional, the rules talk about spirit of the law, but I personally prefer the letter of the law. If it's not prohibited, then it's ok.
