The timeline of the WA case is curious. Arrived in Perth on the 12th but is reported feeling sick on the 19th. If picked up in Qld shouldn’t that be earlier?
Oops oh well

It's kind of satisfying in some ways.Oops oh well
If I was a foreigner in Australia and had just become public enemy number 1 - because I had picked up a cold - I would also be attempting to hide from the police. It's kind of satisfying in some ways.
Also the part about the police having to track this bloke down using mobile phone location is interesting too. Was he hoping not to be found?
They’ve finally found a use for Yagan Square - for the public stocks and all WA residents can bring potatoes from SpudShed to throw at him.If I was a foreigner in Australia and had just become public enemy number 1 - because I had picked up a cold - I would also be attempting to hide from the police.

It’s mildly endearing but mostly just sad that this deep into the pandemic you all are still stuck at the “someone used the wrong toilet” stage of Living With COVID.His story gets worse
What's the point. His story gets worse
Authorities are working to map the potential spread of the virus across Perth after an unvaccinated French backpacker visited several nightclubs, shopping centres, restaurants and a cinema after arriving in WA from Queensland late on December 12.
And Perth is experiencing a heatwave so the people having to get tested are facing some significant challenges.
What's the point.
Got symptoms? Get tested.
No symptoms? Nervous about it? Go get a rapid test from the chemist.
Welcome to the real new normal.

But you know I'm referencing WA where there is a heat wave right now in the 40's. No RAT and they've been covid free for months and very few restrictions. So entirely relevant for their situation. While it might be deep into the pandemic for most, for WA it's like they are just starting. Tracing is relevant for them at this stage so people's movements are important to monitor until their vaccination rates are higher. Was their Government right? I guess in five years time we might know. What's the point.

Delta didn’t go away just because Omicron arrivedMcGowan boasting he thinks it Delta and not Omicron
On the date the backpacker entered WA, Queensland was rated a very low risk. There is no vaccination requirement when coming from a Very Low areaI thought WA were only letting vaccinated people enter? Saw McGowan boasting he thinks it Delta and not Omicron which is funny because Omicron will have far less chance of clogging hospital system.
Fortunately this is a problem that will never occur again as nowhere in Australia will ever be very low risk ever again. On the date the backpacker entered WA, Queensland was rated a very low risk. There is no vaccination requirement when coming from a Very Low area
Delivery of boosters will be a major logistical issue. I booked my 5 month booster yesterday and the earliest date I could get was Jan 21 which is actually 5 months and 3 weeks. Making people eligible at 3 months won't mean anything unless delivery capability is massively scaled up.
Not here. Mine was booked on 21Dec for booster today 24Decbooked my 5 month booster yesterday and the earliest date I could get was Jan 21
They are trying to ramp it up but always going to be some issues with the mob in charge of logistics unfortunately. No doubt they will have to outsource it againDelivery of boosters will be a major logistical issue.
