l.So GPS tracking or spend many billion dollars with more deaths and cases.

But haven't you heard? Covid's just a big conspiracy to take away our civil liberties:rolleyes:

I know GPS tracking will not sit well with the ultra's (ultra right wing libertarians and ultra left wing radicals) but it may be a price some people have to pay with their liberty for a short period of time, to allow the bulk of the population much greater liberty over a much longer period of time.

Hence my ideal solution of a bond.

edit: Vic positives seem to behave differently to the Rest of Australia positives.....

I wonder if demographics are play here, i.e. the demographics of those effected in NSW are different to those in Vic. A lot of restaurant spread in Sydney might suggest a more affluent section of the community more able to afford to stay at home than poorer households, where the breadwinner felt the need to continue to work to support their family (until the government started providing payments for those without access to sick leave).

Be like Taiwan.Don'tr a mask on public transport NT3000-15000 fine (AUD 140-700).

And if you are in Mandatory quarantine you are up for a huge fine and possibly a gaol sentence. You are checked upon a few times a day and GPS tracked as well.

So Taiwan with a population close to 24 million has had 474 case of Covid with 7 deaths as of yesterday. And much less economic damage as well.So GPS tracking or spend many billion dollars with more deaths and cases.
isnt Australia’s anti-mask at least $1000 In every jurisdiction?
gps tracking is being considered for Vic’s positive isolation dodging cohort. Which might be a good idea, to make it less resource intensive.

I think Dan dropped enough hints this morning about deep dives into the data, concern of the problem currently seeming intractable and conference calls with the PM.

I'm expecting some biggish announcements either Sunday or Monday with the next move on restrictions. Panic buying again Tuesday?

I felt Vic premier indicating the decision/ announcement would be tomorrow....but maybe as late as end of the day

IT feels that way based on the press conferences, but any anti-establishment person will tell you it’s their way of hiding the truth.

Rumour on the Age website, that there will be Stage 4 restrictions imposed in Melbourne for 6 weeks as early as Wednesday, shutting down more businesses, reducing public transport and and also putting the rest of the state into Stage 3 again (what Melbourne's in now).

I'd say if they decide to go to stage 4, then they should go as long as needed to knock it on the head completely.

News and the herald sun reporting similar. Everything closed except supermarket, pharmac_, petrol, maybe hardware stores for tradespeople, cafe and restaurants for takeaway (delivery? My question)

Supermarkets need to get their groceries from others.

There is a whole food supply chain including the farmers/producers. Though what to do with abattoirs will be top of mind at present.

My bolding

My Comment: Given the coughulative number of cases in aged care and even allowing for the high proportion of staff the daily death toll looks set to be maintained for some time yet.

Getting the feeling in SA that it will be todays announcement of stage 4. It said cafes and restaurants to be closed except takeaway which for me begs the question - were they still open for dining? Bars and hotels?

More twitter reports saying Victoria’s tougher restrictions will be revealed today....

There were also lots of anecdotal comments of Melbourne Stage 3 this time being busier with people than the first time around when the whole of Australia was effectively under Stage 3.

As I said overnight but in a different aspect, Victoria needs a reset.

It does but I think the ones who may be critical in stopping the spread, have stopped listening. And the language used by the Premier and Health just isnt forceful enough and the threat of mere fines just isnt cutting it anymore. The Premier getting angry at the get go, blaming the people, hasnt been helpful.

ABC Insiders saying announcement on the in VIC around lunchtime:

- Restrictions on operation of abbatoirs and call centres
- Restrictions on Uber and Taxi (defined as PT)
- Restrictions on general retail
- Restaurants and Cafes ‘stricter’ contactless takeaway delivery

Also adding in the PM‘s comment at the outset (primacy) that ‘every job is essential’ is still ringing in everyone’s ears(and minds).

I guess it shows going back to lockdown a second time is much harder.
