Yet today was the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW2 and no large gatherings allowed for that.
aren’t ANZAC day attendances growing (pre Covid)Would there have been a large gathering, allowed or not?
Plenty of apathy (and ignorance) around for events that occurred so long ago. Eleventh of November remembrance also waning rapidly in last 20 years, many under 30 would ask "what's that all about".
Which would be somewhat palatable if others weren't granted freedoms.Yet today was the 75th Anniversary of the end of WW2 and no large gatherings allowed for that.
So if we jump up and down and threaten we are likely to be granted our wants. Gosh, that is the behaviour as parents we have to extinguish during the terrible two's. AKA tantrums.Would there have been a large gathering, allowed or not?

And I think many would have attendee if given the chance.

But lot's of families of those who did.ANZAC day by contrast is a celebration of a myriad of different events over an extensive period of time with many living participants (aka Vietnam and many others). Not many who went to WWII still around.
And I cant think of a worst time in our living history where such behaviour could cause so much havoc for those who have fought for our country and freedom.I can't think of a freedom that has been won in history in any country without a proportion of the population "jumping up and down".

I actually don’t care about any of them, as a migrant to this country and not a drop of Anglo Saxon in my very varied blood lines. What I am tired of is selective following of health advice. It should be absolute - “this is what we all need to do to keep everyone safe”. Not “well most of you need to do this, but we will turn a blind eye and cross our fingers for these other ones”.ANZAC day by contrast is a celebration of a myriad of different events over an extensive period of time with many living participants (aka Vietnam and many others). Notwithstanding the debunking of that statement that has already occurred, don't forget that rallies were held in many major centres around AU. Singling out Melbourne to suit your argument is just disingenuous.
[/QUOTE]I read somewhere that the guards had become spooked by someone who was threatening to commit suicide so they started letting people out. Unforgivable of course.

Edit and don’t get me started on this concept if allowing people out of quarantine for fresh air and exercise because of some human rights thing that was drafted with no idea of a once in a hundred years pandemic or health emergency
How can anyone 'debunk' it?
It's been admitted that those who went were one of the sources of transmission for this virus.
May not have directly caused infections but it sure sent the message that if you felt strongly enough about something then it was OK to do it. This was Australia wide. However the right to exercise, amidst the general public, even when positive, seems peculiarly limited to Victoria. Here we go again. This was all handled up thread. Evidence was shown that no they did not cause infections. As much as some people might like to keep trying to convince us that they did, they did not.
I read that too - so many bad things over the last 6 months. However as I understand it home quarantine also allowed people to leave until quite recently because of basic rights to exercise. These are extraordinary times I think 2 weeks without leaving your home is unpleasant but achievable.
