Don’t worry Anna will find some way to blame NSW. Tune it at 9am to see how

Of that I am sure! She took a swipe at Scomo today for calling her out on borders and not WA, SA and Tas.

I never holiday in my own state but this nonsense means two NSW locations will get some tourist $ from me this year.

As much as I love WA, SA and Tasmania... ultimately the majority of the country operates along the east coast. I think we can all accept that Victoria is operating at a different level to the rest of the country, but it’s pretty nonsensical to have a hard border between NSW and Queensland and it’s seriously hurting the country's recovery. Anna deserves everything she’s copping and I really hope Queenslanders are smart enough to see through it.

I just cancelled three trips to Queensland and when speaking to the hotel operators I explained why these trips were cancelled and that I would not be booking again until Queensland has a published framework for their border closures that allows me to book with a degree of confidence rather than a politician deciding on a whim.

Fake news WA quarantine security is infallible didn’t you know  🤣
Four occasions! Once you could maybe understand if that possibility hadn’t been considered but four times!

They do keep voting against daylight saving and say they love getting up with the sun at 4.30 am in mid-summer, so I’m not sure they will see through it!

With respect that’s great for some restaurants... but hotels and accom and anyone associated has been devastated in SA too, particularly in the CBD. We work with them all.
Yeah I’m not denying that at all. Hotels and accommodation are doing it tough, just pointing out that many other sectors are starting to see some positive signs here whereas a few months ago it was looking very grim for many.
I think we will see some loosening of border restrictions here soon but it will be New Year at the earliest before we can even think of travelling to Melbourne or vice versa unfortunately

The First Secretary of the PDR Tasmania, Peter Gutwein has just announced in Parliament that the States's borders will be closed until 1 December, at least, as a result of the situation in Victoria. 🤬.

Good to see the media getting with the program 😆

Closed borders, government-paid holidays, workers in the fields: Welcome to the socialist republic of Tasmania

Welcome to the socialist republic of Tasmania. Outsiders shunned, borders strictly patrolled, populace mobilised to bring in the harvest and workers given government-sponsored holidays.

There are not yet heroic images of Peter Gutwein plastered on Hobart street corners, but stay tuned.

Some cheeky public servants have started calling the Liberal Premier and Treasurer “Mussolini”; not simply due to any physical resemblance.

The former publican, handballed the premiership just before the pandemic struck, has since been laudably unafraid to make bold calls.

His hard line approach has gone down well among a pandemic-spooked public, leading to extraordinarily high approval ratings. These, in turn, have further emboldened him.

The first to ban cruise ships and shut borders, Gutwein was likewise quick to impose quarantine and strict lockdowns. When they worked, helping to eliminate the state’s northwest COVID outbreak, he was stubbornly slow to ease restrictions.

...

It’s a utopia most Tasmanians seem content to go along with. So far the beloved leader’s edicts have worked. But there will be a reckoning – for tourism businesses this spring, and for future generations likely to pick up the tab.

That's odd. ABC AM on the radio just has a story that Vic Health authorities are allowing JBS Brookyn (unsure of spelling) at least, meat-works workers NOT to be isolated while awaiting a COVID test if asymptomatic. Yeah, I understand the risk profile, but isn't Victoria at Stage 4 or something, and production at meatworks has been mandated to be reduced by 1/4 or 1/3, because as a whole, meatworks have been shown to be high risk industry? Hopefully the story will go on-line so can see the details.

Like their 'wink and a nudge' marches, this type of exemption in Victoria, if as reported, makes people very cynical.

It was never really about the cows and the curtains.

Everyone in QLD was accustomed to there being 24 hours in a day, and the day was long enough as it was. With the extra hour of daylight, 25 hours in a day was just too much to accept.

Anyway on the COVID border issue, QLD is doing so well in the COVID battle compared with VIC and NSW

Well there are good reasons for QLD to not have daylight saving.Just look at average sunlight hours for QLD v Victoria.
EG Cairns.Monthly average hours of sunlight peaks in October and is least in february.

And in Melbourne.Peaks in January and lowest in June.

So for Melbourne average of 270 hours sunshine in January v Cairns 200 hours.
But in June Melbourne 100 hours v Cairns 230 hours.

Sorry but this site didn't list any Tassie towns.

Now for Government stupidity this takes the cake.A farmer in northern victoria wanted to take some lambs to Corowa,NSW markets as she has always done. Some bright spark public servant insists they be driven to Melbourne then flown MEL-SYD and then driven to Corowa.

So today we telephoned Service NSW to enquire about getting a permit to enter NSW to take our sheep from our address which is a few hundred meters out of the border zone, to Corowa sheep yards, which in over the river and in the border zone. What ensued has left a very bitter taste in my mouth, and tomorrow every politician and news outlet is going to hear about it.
It went as follows..... "We are sheep producers and need a permit to take sheep to Corowa Sheep Market. NSW: your address is outside the zone, you will need to enter the state via Sydney airport. Us: We are farmers on the border and you want us to take a load of 40 lambs by plane to Corowa? NSW: Yes. Us: You want us to drive 6 hours to Melbourne with 40 sheep? NSW: Yes. Us: You want us to put 40 sheep on a flight from Melbourne to Sydney and then transport them from there to Corowa Sheep Market on the border? NSW: Yes."
I cough you not, this is for real.
#DanielAndrews you promised the people of Victoria they would still be able to buy meat. You let this cough go, they won't be buying lamb.
#GladysBerejiklian fix the border zone/region/bubble what ever the hell you want to call it and do it soon, better yet, re-open the bloody borders for ALL FARMERS regardless.
#MLA get all over this NOW before it becomes an animal welfare issue.

Now for Government stupidity this takes the cake. Unfortunately there is currently serous competition in this space.
