Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Unfortunately self employed sole contractor and can’t work from home. All ok though, got some put away to cover.

Interesting to see the lack of flexibility on the engaging company's behalf, unless it's something that absolutely can't be done unless physically there. I feel your pain, when I work I'm in the same boat. Pretty much all projects I was working on got canned here (UK) when COVID-19 hit and I have my risk spread across several industries too; which still didn't help! Good to see you plan for a rainy day, as any contractor / consultant should.

Yup sure do.

I had some interesting responses from my emails to a few contacts in huge businesses about needing the app to enter their private premises....

Put it this way - it was definitely not a 'no will never do that'!....

I think someone needs to go first.... and they would be very brave, but if everyone stacked on quickly afterwards then the people (for whatever self-justified resason) who aren't downloading the app would be encouraged to I'm sure, if they saw their mates out shopping etc and they couldn't....

C'mon Westfield :)

Here you go. Misuse of virus app leads to $63,000 fine

Can you interpret those numbers a bit @drron ? The 'total' numbers look OK (except maybe for sanitiser) - but they have a motza of most items on order?

Certainly we here in the North have no problems with PPE now.In the south they shouldn't have a great need.Heard that RHH only has one inpatient.
will need more with the reopening of NWRH but those numbers should be adequate.Sanitiser is now easily sourced so shouldn't be a problem. So for Tasmania as a whole we seem to be right.

The one thing that stands out is how low the official stockpile of Australia is.No wonder they are still actively sourcing stock.

I hesitate to drift.. but the PPE situation Internationally in getting more interesting.
The Chinese are reportedly supplying the 3rd world with ppe in exchange for favours… ( ioc doping votes et al…)
The Americans are now saying that one reason for China playing down the Virus activity was so they could have a massive International buy up of ppe and other medical necessities.
Nice people...

Not all contractors earn by working at a desk. My "son in law" is a concrete contractor. ;)

Who believes a word the US says either they are just desperately trying to distract people from the absolute disaster they have caused by not reacting quickly or appropriately.

People just need to calm down and look after their citizens right now.

Thankfully the lockdown in the NW of Tas seems to have been executed well enough to give all governments the confidence to start easing restrictions.

Details? Cluster or all separate.
My mistake, 17 in Victoria

What is disgraceful about Newmarch is how they are still getting new cases every day.

After the first few cases, any positive cases should have been moved to hospital (its not like our hospitals are overrun with Covid cases in NSW) where proper safety measures could be enforced. Then they needed to throughly clean any rooms positive residents or staff members entered, implement temperature screening of staff, ensure they are wearing PPE. You really have to wonder why there is so much cross infection still happening there over a month after the first case.

Id defnitely never consider an Anglicare facility for my folks if they ever get to the stage of needing care, they clearly have had no decent managemt throughot this whole sad affair.

Absolutely. Was NSW Health ever called in? If not why not or why didnt NSW Health step in regardless? There is a dearth of an actual timeline here yet NSW knew from the getgo that a possible infection issue was brewing.

Having had a parent in a residential care home I cannot imagine the stress those relatives are experiencing. It is tragic not knowing what is happening and what might happen in the future.

They have forbidden visitors but the infestation started and continued from within their own employee group. Shameful - I understand how it might start but they didnt act after that.
