You lot are just so jealous. Walks along the beach. Kids always at school. Able to catch up with 9 family members. Could always sit on the beach. Exercise not even close to home. Visit National parks. Water? Who needs it when we can buy the best local wines from the local?

Followed by a six pack of red tins

Is that a reference to Adelaide beer?

True story. I got given my first job out of Uni in Adelaide - actually, my dream job; me and a mate both. We flew from Hobart to Adelaide for the interview and were offered the jobs there and then, and so we walked across the park to celebrate. Hit the nearest pub, naturally ... ordered beers.

BLAH! Even in that euphoric mood, we both spat it out. I don't remember what it was (not Coopers, though) but I remembered to avoid it in Adelaide ever since (not so bad - put me onto SA wines 🙂 )

Yes @Pushka , envious of the freedoms to come there ... but our day will come!

It's a bit like Australians don't drink Fosters - mind you I'm not actually sure who drinks Southwark and West End because no one I know does and I come from a family of drinkers and have been known to go to the pub a bit (not lately though)!!

Is that the same beer that seems to have struck a good advertising deal with the makers of Wake in Fright?

Oh god - I remember going to see that movie when I was about 17 - it was very weird

Not now but there was a time when I was growing up when it was pretty much all you could get over here. It was either the old Southwark “Green Death” or West End Draught.
I was never of fan of WED though

And I wasn’t even aware that those beers were still being produced. 😀

Edit: Not yet gone the way of the dodo?

Both are still made.
West End Draught is still quite popular whilst the Southwark Bitter is almost like a boutique beer these days In that it isn’t sold in great numbers but has a bit of a cult following

It’s a good place to start unraveling the mess and now we just need to accept we have a process of managing it as invariably it will return.

Oh it’s never left don’t worry it’s circulating, just test some more and it will turn up.

Hey, I drink Fosters here! It's not that bad....... ;)

Very! I've been watching lots of Australian films lately. Snowtown was gruesome and very grim. Muriel's Wedding was fun. Wake in Fright was strange.

Both are still made.

A bit like Emu Export from what I've heard although that seems to be sold in great numbers.

A niche market, to put it politely? ;)

I heard today that SA has a soft border in that people can still come in but rego and address details taken and people are required to self isolate for 14 days. Police at border. So far 28,000 people have arrived since the soft close.
